The Tralee International Bridge Congress 2024 at the Rose Hotel was held last weekend leaving a positive mark on both the local and national bridge communities.
The event, spanning the entire weekend, showcased the skills of Kerry’s bridge players, particularly in the Congress Pairs and Intermediate Pairs competitions.
John O’Connor and Kelan O’Connor from Tralee won the Congress Pairs, demonstrating great skill. Their win highlights the quality of bridge in the area and offers inspiration to others.

Anne Maria Mac Sweeney and Phillip Cretch, also from Kerry, came out on top in the Intermediate Pairs, showing the depth of local talent. Their success is a point of pride for the local bridge community.
The congress brought together players from all over Ireland, featuring competitive matches in various categories. The focus was on strategic play and teamwork.

Donal Garvey, known for his understanding of bridge and teaching ability as a Grand Master, led a notable session on expert hands. His efforts in sharing knowledge and encouraging players of all levels highlight his significant contribution to bridge.
The 2024 congress has been a key event for the Irish bridge scene, thanks to everyone involved and the support from sponsors Home Instead and The Rose Hotel.
With this year’s event concluded, we’re already preparing for next year. The Tralee International Bridge Congress aims to continue being a highlight for players of all abilities.
