IT was a day of mixed fortunes for Kerry senior GAA sides today in the double-header at the newly reopened Austin Stack Park.
The Kerry senior hurlers were out first and the weight of expectation must have been too great as they were annihilated by Wexford. They never got going and the Model county hit 2-25 to the Kingdom’s 0-8.
Having turned in some great performances lately, it’s a blow to their chances of survival in Division 1B and there’s a lot to think about in the coming days for Ciaran Carey and Co.
The Kerry senior footballers fared much better in their clash against Donegal afterwards. In what has to be described as an ill-tempered contest, Kerry prevailed by 1-13 to 1-8, with a superior second half performance against the wind propelling them to victory.
