HOLLYWOOD superstar Michael Fassbender was honoured in Killarney on Friday evening with the greatest accolade the town he grew up in can bestow.
He was inducted into the Order of Innisfallen in recognition of his remarkable achievements in the film industry which has seen him nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTAs.
The 39-year-old actor was feted by the town’s Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and the Killarney Municipal Area for helping to boost Killarney’s profile on a world stage by achieving great success in his chosen field.
The event was followed by the inaugural Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce gala black tie ball in the Europe Hotel and Resort close to Michael’s family home in Fossa, where his parents, Josef and Adele, still reside and it was a really glamorous affair.
