THEY came, they saw, they got a bit wet and sandy, but eventually over 600 participants conquered the Banna Beast Challenge on Saturday.
Held for the second time in four months, the challenge is proving very popular with people of varying ages tackling the 7km course of 20 obstacles on the beach and beyond the sand dunes.
Run by Crossfit R560 Gym in Monavalley, organiser Mairead O’Mahony said she was delighted with the huge turnout.
The participants set off in waves from an area near the Banna Sea Rescue HQ – with MC Ray Stack getting them warmed up in his inimitable way – and they made their way to the beach over timber walls, under nets and through water troughs until they arrived back to where they began.
