THE Austin Stacks GAA club unveiled their Strictly dancing team for 2019 on Tuesday night at their Club in Connolly Park.
Fourteen couples will take to the dancefloor at the Dome on Saturday, August 31 and perform in front of a live audience and a team of judges.
In 2011 the then Chairman of the Stacks Club, Aidan O’Connor introduced the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event — based on the popular BBC TV show — into Kerry and the club has hosted Strictly annually since then.

Strictly is a major fundraiser for the Club which has 400 juvenile members amongst its membership.
“We are extremely grateful to all the businesses in the town and beyond who support and sponsor our dancers each year,” said Chairperson of the club, Mairead Fernane.
“The dancers spend so much time preparing for this and great friendships are formed as a result. They literally put their lives on hold for three months and we in the club are very appreciative of their efforts,” she said.
Each dancer will pick a charity of their choice and a donation will be made to the charities of the winning couple.
The couples are being put through their paces by dance coach extraordinaire, Jackie O’ Mahoney, who has been putting them through their paces for the past six weeks. There will be two sets of winners on the night, the judge’s choice and the people’s choice.
