THERE was standing room only in Charlies Bar in the Kerins O’Rahillys Clubhouse on Friday night for a table quiz in aid of Kerry Women’s Resource Centre.
Every table was taken and many people had to sit at the bar counter to take part such was the support shown for the cause.
The Tralee Women’s Resource Centre closed its doors in December of last year, but after a superb community effort in the county, it was announced in September that the service will open soon in Teach an Solas in St John’s Parish Centre on Ashe Street, Tralee.

“Tonight is to raise more funds for the resource centre which will hopefully be open soon at Teach an Solas. The creative writing group is already up and running there at 10.30am every Thursday if women would like to drop by,” said one of the organisers of the quiz, Lesley Collins.
“We’ve been having meeting to get the centre off the ground, but tonight is our launch really with the quiz,” said another organiser, Mandy Landers. “We went around to traders to ask them to support the raffle and they were extremely generous. We also want to thank Kerins O’Rahillys for their hospitality here,” she added.
It is hoped that the centre will be open soon three days a week once they have everything in place. You can keep up with their progress on their facebook page by clicking here. Scroll down for photos…
