IT’S become almost a tradition out in Blennerville for the past 10 years and Saturday was another fantastic day for Tony O’Donoghue Memorial Walk.
After passing away from cancer back in 2013, Tony’s daughter Andrea started the charity event in his memory with funds raised going towards the Palliative Care Unit at UHK.
Before yesterday, the walks and fundraising events organised by Andrea had raised €72,000 he hope was to surpass the €75,000 mark at the weekend. Well she smashed that target by raising €6,000 thanks to the generosity of participants.

The day stayed fine for the walk which set off from Blennerville Windmill just after 4pm. Afterwards it was back to Skelper Quanes for a fantastic evening of entertainment from Ross Brassil, Darragh Jive O’Donnell and DJ Mick.
Seamus O’Sullivan Butchers provided the tasty burgers for everyone after the walk which were cooked by Una Lynch and Teresa O’Brien of 2 Beans In A Box.
Andrea thanked the businesses who donated 43 spot prizes for the raffle, everyone who took part in the walk, those who bought raffle tickets, Skelper Quanes and all who helped her with the event.
