PHOTOS: Winners Of Student Enterprise Awards Announced

THE County Final of the Kerry County Council Annual Student Enterprise Awards took place on Friday at the Munster Technological University campus in Dromtacker with Castleisland schools dominating the prizes.

Sixteen mini-companies set up by local second level schools participated in the competition which promotes the development of innovation, idea development, business structure, sourcing of finance, marketing/sales and the presentation of a formal business plan.

A wide array of trading projects were presented hand crafted items, farm safety devices, technology, products made from recycled materials and many more.

The students progressed through the establishment of a mini company which trades over a period of a number of months.

Prizes were awarded at Junior, Intermediate and Senior level with the winners  going forward to the National Finals to be held in Croke Park on May 18.

The Junior category winners were ‘Roley Poley’ from Presentation Castleisland with ‘Fog Off’ from Presentation Castleisland as the runners up.

The Intermediate winners were Kicks On Wheels from St Patrick’s Castleisland with Presentation Castleisland’s ‘Spotless Sills’ as runners-up.

Finally the Senior category winners were ‘Mearscaoilte Leo’ from Presentation Castleisland with Sabhailte  from Mercy Mounthawk as runners-up. Scroll down for photos…
