OUR head of state will be hoping for a warmer welcome to Tralee than he got outside a Dublin school last week, when he visits in February.
President Micheal D Higgins will be in IT Tralee’s North Campus on Febuary 24 to officially launch the college’s UNESCO Chair in Inclusive PE, Sport, Fitness and Recreation.
The President’s visit will be invite only, but people not on the list can watch events streamed online on the IT Tralee website.
An exhibition, showcasing the work of organisations who advocate the inclusion of people with disabilities through their services and products, will take place on the day.
Kerry poet Margaret O’Shea has been invited to the ceremony at IT Tralee to read a poem for the President. She has already read poetry for Mary Mcaleese when she was president. Margaret O’Shea lives in Killarney and has been published by Doghouse Publishing – her book is called ‘Whales off the coast of my Bed’.
