Public Asked For Submissions On Draft Beach Byelaws

THE public is being asked for submissions on Kerry County Council’s controversial new Draft Beach Bye Laws.

Councillors were informed of the draft byelaws at the January meeting of Kerry County Council and there was much debate on the issue.

Among the proposed byelaws is one which would restrict dogs on Blue Flag beaches between the hours of 11am and 7pm from June 1 to September 15. Exception will be made for guide dogs and assistance dogs.

It is proposed horses will also be banned from Blue Flag beaches during the same hours in the same period of the summer.

The Draft Bye-Laws will be available for public inspection, during normal working hours, until March 21, 2022 at the Kerry County Council Environment Office, Maine Street, Tralee.

They can also be inspected at each Kerry County Council Municipal District Office, each Kerry County Council Branch Library and copies of the draft Bye-Laws have also been placed on the council website www.kerrycoco.ie

The Council will consider any submission made in writing regarding the draft Bye-Laws. Submissions should be sent to Kerry County Council, Environment Section, Maine St., Tralee Eircode V92AP2W or emailing environ@kerrycoco.ie before 5 pm on 1 st April 2022.

    Yes they should be allowed. ..there should be poop bags stations available and bins to deal with it.
