RADIO Kerry had a fantastic time at the IMRO Radio awards at the Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny tonight, winning four Gold, three Silver, one Bronze award.
One of the popular winners at the prestigious awards — regarded as the ‘Radio Oscars’ — was Tim Moynihan who won the Gold in the Sports Broadcaster of the Year Local Regional category.
David Nelligan from Castleisland won Gold in the Gay Byrne Newcomer of the Year Award category as well as a Silver in the Short Feature category for ‘The day the box was seen by Jackie Browne’.

That Short Feature Category was won by ‘Heritage Hunters’ – an entry by Elaine Kinsella, Alan Finn and Niamh Daly of Radio Kerry.
There was another Gold for the station when JJ O’Shea got the nod for Specialist Music Programme for The Music Tree and he also picked up a Silver for Specialist Music Broadcaster.
Radio Kerry received Silver in the Local Station of the Year category while Weekend Sports received a Bronze award in the Sports Programme Local / Regional category.
Regional, local and national stations from every corner of Ireland entered the annual awards and over 110 judges dedicated their time and expertise to choose a list that represents the pinnacle of Irish broadcasting.
