THE fourth Tralee 5km Santa Fun Run takes place this Sunday at 11am and it’s looking like it could be the biggest yet.

The run is held every year from the Tralee Bay Wetlands in memory of Fiona Moore from Caherlsee, with all proceeds this year in aid of Barretstown. To date the Tralee 5km Santa fun run has raised almost €30,000 for three charities which would have benefited Fiona Moore during her illness.

Fiona Moore passed away at the age of 16 in May 2013 from Pulmonary Hypertension, while waiting on a lung transplant. The run is always a fantastic, colourful event with hundreds of Santas taking to the Wetlands for the past three years.

Registrations are up on previous years so organisers are expecting a great turnout yet again. So if you and your family would like to be a Claus for a cause, and can walk, run or cycle you can still register for the event.

Registration is open at the offices of Martin Moore & Co Accountants at 11 Main Street, Blennerville, from 2 – 5pm on Friday and 9 am – 1 pm Saturday and you can also register at the Wetlands from 10am Sunday morning. There is no parking at the Wetlands but the Brandon and Aquadome car parks can be used.
