TRALEE CBS are the Munster U19 E Schools Hurling champions after defeating Mercy Mounthawk on a scoreline of 3-14 to 3-4 in Tralee IT pitch on Friday.

Tralee CBS were full value for their win, leading by 0-12 to 2-02 at halftime, the Mercy Mounthawk goals coming from Sean Clifford and Darragh Courtney.

Tralee CBS took over completely in the second half when the excellent Darragh Reen blasted to the net without catching the ball to make it 1-14 to 2-02.

Two further goals from substitute Eamon Rohan put the game completely out of reach for Mercy Mounthawk. Colm Healy did get a goal back for Mercy Mouthawk but it had little effect on the game.

It was great to see two Kerry teams contest a Munster schools hurling final, but some unpleasant scenes during two incidents did little for the reputation of hurling in Kerry.

Surely The Munster Council could have chosen a better venue for this final. On a positive note it was great to see 15 Tralee Parnells players included in the panels auguring well for the future of hurling in Tralee.
