Seven Additional Cases In Kerry, 507 Reported Nationally This Evening

THERE were seven new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

There were 10 additional deaths and 507 more cases reported nationally. Nine deaths occurred in March, one date of death remains under investigation. The median age of those who died was 75 years and the age range was 45 – 88 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 61.6 per 100,000 people. There have been 91 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 7.

Kerry is the county with the fifth lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days (after Clare, Cork, Kilkenny and Leitrim). The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 150.5.

216 in Dublin, 40 in Kildare, 29 in Galway, 24 in Offaly, 18 in Tipperary and the remaining 180 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

There have now been 229,306 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,576 people who died with the virus since the start of the pandemic.

As of 8am on Friday, 336 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 87 are in ICU. There have been 43 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of 16 March, 632,359 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

• 463,500 people have received their first dose
• 168,859 people have received their second dose
