Seven New COVID-19 Cases Reported For Kerry, 539 Nationally

THERE were seven new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

There were 14 additional deaths and 539 more cases reported nationally. Nine deaths occurred in March, one occurred in February and four in January or earlier. The median age of those who died was 80 years and the age range was 59-94 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 61.6 per 100,000 people. There have been 91 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 4.

Kerry is still the the county with the second lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days. Cork has the lowest with 56.7 per 100,000 people. The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 175.6.

245 were in Dublin, 42 in Meath, 29 in Kildare, 26 in Limerick, 24 in Cork and the remaining 173 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

There have now been 222,699 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,419 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 414 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 101 are in ICU. There have been 22 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Wednesday (3 March), there have been 474,645 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
• 328,598 people have received their first dose
• 146,047 people have received their second dose
