The yearly Cara Credit Union Education Awards are open to undergraduates in a full-time course of at least 2 years’ duration and the Dan Kellegher Memorial Awards are open to post-graduates in a full or part-time course of at least 1 years’ duration.

Pa Laide, CEO Cara Credit Union, said; “We understand the college years are a very expensive time and often place a huge financial burden on students and their families. While our education awards don’t solve the problem, they do go some way towards easing the financial pressure.

“Cara Credit Union has never been more relevant for students, with our new Current Account and globally accepted Mastercard Debit Card we can now serve our students when they move onto college.  Students up to the age of 25 and in a full-time course of studies are eligible for fee concessions.

“We also offer a low interest rate loan for students who need a loan. For parent who have saved up for college we have a low rate Saver’s Loan, which gives parents the option to “spend it or save it” on loans of €5,000 or more. Most people find it easier to repay a loan than it is to save so they borrow on the strength of their savings. With our saver’s loan they still have their savings at the end of the loan plus they have the flexibility of knowing that they can repay their loan anytime without penalty and they have peace of mind of free life cover on both their loans and their savings with our Loan Protection and Life Savings Insurance. ”

Applications for the Education and Dan Kellegher Awards will be accepted from 1st August – 30th September 2020.
