Juvenile Academy

U6: We had a fun, energetic session this morning & were lucky to stay dry! Well done to all who attended this morning’s training session in which a lot of fun was had by all. Well done to Emily, who impressed her coaches during the drills and won the player of the week trophy. Training continues next Sunday morning on our astro pitch at the same time.

U8: Our under 8 team took part in the U8 blitz held in the John Mitchells GAA grounds organised by Kerry GAA on Wednesday 4th April. We played three fast paced games against Kilcummin, John Mitchells and Na Gael. As these was our first games this year a little rustiness was evident initially however by the third game all our players were thriving and playing very well. Thanks to the parents for getting the players to the grounds and supporting them during the games. A special mention must go to Stephen Enright and James Daly who having played well in the under 8 blitz also played with the under 10 team in their blitz on the following day…well done boys.

We were back with the rest of the Academy for training at the St Pats grounds on Sunday morning last and there was no sign of our players having over indulged on easter eggs. We had a very good session with emphasis on hand passing and kicking. The session finished with a very competitive game where some lovely point scoring was displayed by many of our players.

The Player of the Week trophy was very well earned by James Daly who showed good skill all through our games on Sunday…well done James.

U10: St Pats did very well in the Co U 10 blitz at John Mitchels. We played Miltown/ Castlemaine, St Senans & Na Gaeil and performed very well. Our panel were highly commended for their superb displays of skill and teamwork. Jack Costello, Michael Enright, Rodhan & Caoilaoinn Culloo,Sharon & Stephen Enright, Darragh Murphy, Luke Passway & Garry Scollard and young James Daly formed our excellent panel of future stars.

It was back to training last Sunday and we had a good number of boys and girls for training. It is very important that parents bring their kids to training to learn their skills and also encourage them to practice at home.

U12: The St. Pats under 12’s Boys & Girls were training last week and everyone put in a great effort with Jack Costello, Killian O’Mahony, Michael Enright and Darragh Murphy giving it their all during the sessions. Training continues on our Astro pitch this Monday 9th from 3.45pm to 4.45pm and again next Friday the 13th at 5.45pm to 6.45pm. We are at home to Ballyheigue in the Co. League next Sunday the 15th, depending on the conditions of our pitch. Throw in is at 6pm.

U14 Girls: We had a great turnout of enthusiastic players in training last Sunday morning anticipation of our first County League game away to Churchill this Wednesday evening. Pitch venue and time to be confirmed. Please check our Facebook page for updates.

U14 Boys: We drew a bye last week in the County League but are away to Kilgarvan/Tuosist this Wednesday, the 11th. The game throws in at 7pm but venue tbc.

U16: Our u16’s played their first game of the season on Monday night at home to Milltown/Castlemaine. St. Pats started off well, holding a lot of possession but missed too many scoring opportunities. Unfortunately we were beaten by a stronger side but the boys learned a lot from this game. On Friday night we played against Austin Stacks B’s at home and on this occasion we left with a well deserved victory. With every player giving it 100% we saw what these boys are capable of. Well done to all involved and best of luck to the team and mentors.
Team: Gavin Doody, Daniel Moriarty, Dylan Griffin, Matthew Quilter, Cilian Lynch, Liam O’ Sullivan, Niall Mc Cathy, Cormac Lynch, Michael Doody, Jamie O ‘ Brien, Darragh Moriarty, Samuel Abubaker, Tomas O Sullivan , Tom Brett, Danny Greaney, Nathan Moriarty, Tadgh Kerins and Shane Howarth.

Seniors

Castleisland Mart Junior Premier Club Football Championship Group 3 Round 2

Keel 1-13 St Pats 1-11

Keel effectively ended St Pat’s hopes of Championship glory last Saturday evening in Keel by two points in a physical game in which Keel’s Gary Sayers scored six points and was instrumental in his side’s goal before he was given his marching orders after picking up 2 yellow cards.

St Pats started the game well with 2 well-taken points by Jordan Conway and Eoin O’Carroll after five minutes but the home side registered five points within a seven minute period.

A David O’Callaghan free stopped the rot but only momentarily as the home side added three further points before St Pat’s Kieran Dwyer, fresh after winning an All-Ireland Fresher’s medal with DCU, carried the ball from his half, beating several players and pointed from close range. It didn’t curb Keel’s surge as they took a 0-10 to 0-5 lead into the break.

The second half was only two minutes old when the green flag was raised for Keel as David McAssey reacted quickest to a high ball for a tap in. They added two more points in between a Willie Hurley effort.

St Pats also got a goal of their own through captain, David O’Callaghan but Keel defended in numbers to protect their lead after they had two players sent off for very physical challenges despite the continuous attack by St Pats as the home side won narrowly on a score line of 1-13 to 1-11

St Pats: Paudi Bailey, Killian Quirke, Tommy Lynch, Joe O’Connor, Jordan Conway (0-1), Kieran Dwyer (0-1), Luke Mulligan (0-1), Liam O’Sullivan, Liam Poff, Eoin O’Carroll (0-1), David O’Callaghan (1-02, 1f), Gary Savage, Eoin Greaney, Willie Hurley (0-3, 1f), Breandáin Savage.

Subs: Brendan Poff (0-1) for Gary Savage, Jake Foley for Killian Quirke, Brian Murphy for Eoin O’Carroll, Paul McMahon (0-1) for Eoin Greaney, Cillian O’Riordan for Liam Poff

We play Fossa in the third round of the Junior Premiership Championship on Sunday, 15thApril at 2.30pm. Venue for this fixture is in Blennerville.
