St Patrick’s Day Parade

A Huge Thank you to everyone for joining us in the parade on St Patricks Day It was great to see the St Pats colours flying and all were in full voice. We had a huge turnout and a big thanks to Foxy and St Patrick Himself.

Marching with St Pats.

Juvenile Academy

U5

Indoor training continued this weekend and well done to all the boys and girls that turned out. Ball handling skills are improving week on week. Congratulations to our players of the week Colin and Cillian.

U7

We had another enjoyable session with our u7’s this weekend, well done everyone.

It was also great to see so many of our Juvenile’s in the parade on St. Patrick’s Day, St. Pats Abù!

U8 Girls

A Very well done to the 12 girls who could make it to football on Sunday morning. With lots of other commitments and a long weekend we took advantage of the smaller numbers to play a short match. Great to see the older girls stepping up and leading by example. There were lots of other fun drills and games which aimed to work on our skills of lateral movement, evasion, agility, kicking, hand passing and soloing. The girls practice is really showing. Great work and skill by Cara Scott to earn her the player of the week trophy. Keep up the good work girls!

U9

The u9s practiced their reaction skills, soloing and goal scoring today before playing a great game across the full hall. The reds won by 2 goals in the end. Cillian, Ben, Alan, Paddy and Tommy all had fine games and Darragh won our “Euro of the week” by kicking the ball into the basketball hoop. See you all again next week at 11.

U10 Girls

U10 Girls trained Sunday morning March 20th on the astro turf pitch at Kerry Sports Academy. While the weather was a bit windy, the sun was shining on the girls as they practiced their skills and played some matches, coached by Noel and Monica. The focus of today’s training was scoring. During matches each girl was allowed to score just once, meaning every girl took a turn at scoring with her teammates helping her achieve her score. Grace Costello worked especially hard during the practice and the matches displaying her skills and strength and deservedly won player of the week. All the girls today put in a superb effort at training. Well done to Grace and to all the girls! Remember to keep practicing at home and see you all next week.

U11

Thanks to our u11 players and coaches, Foxy, St Patrick, Juvenile Chairperson Michael Moriarty and everyone involved in the St Patricks parade. It was a great day out, and our best turn out for years. You all did the club proud.

We had a great training session on Sunday morning at MTU. We had a short warm-up hand passing match, then skill sessions to work on Pickup, High Catch and Hand pass. We finished with a full game between Reds and Greens. The coaches were very impressed with the movement and passing of all players. A big thank you to the coaches, especially minor player Ben Sharp who gave his time to pass on his skills to the next generation of St Pats stars.

We would like to see our players practice their Solo and Pickup skills at home ahead of our Go Games. See the links shared on our WhatsApp group page for some ideas.

Last but not least, we cannot wait for our first Go game of the season this Thursday 24th away to Churchill at their new grounds, Eircode: V92 WR2Y. Please RSVP on www.foireann.ie

We would like to see our players practice their skills at home ahead of our Go Games.

Seniors

County Football Development League 2022

St Pats B are in Division 6 this year with Tarbert B, Clounmacon, Duagh B, Scartaglin B and Beaufort C.

Round 1 takes place the 26th of March at 5pm

St Pats B vs Tarbert B

Our seniors played in their Round 1 of the Credit Union County Senior Football League at 5pm in Portmagee on the 19th of March. In cold and blustery conditions both teams played very well.

Fergal O Brien opened the match with a point with the wind against. Skellig Rangers got their own point a few minutes after and added another point soon after that.

David O Callaghan added another St Pats point to the scoreboard. Skellig Rangers added two more points from frees to show the score line at half time St Pat’s 0-02 to Skellig Rangers 0-04.

With the wind to St Pat’s back in the second half it made passing the ball that more difficult. However that didn’t stop Kieran Hurley getting two points. Skellig Rangers got two points one from play and another from a free.

With the wind getting stronger it seemed, St Pat’s took the rest of the match in their stride with a Liam O Sullivan point. Only a point behind now, St Pat’s put on substitute Adrian Greaney on in place of Breandan Savage.

With the clock counting down St Pat’s needed a point to draw level, Kieran Hurley scored it to draw the game. The score line finished St Pat’s 0-06 Skellig Rangers 0-06. Everyone on the team played extremely well despite we having an additional enemy in the wind. Well done to all players but the younger players fought just as hard.

Round 2 of the Credit Union County Senior Football League against St Senan’s In Blennerville will be played the 3rd of April. Time to be confirmed.
