Last week we hosted St Senan’s in the first round of the U11 County Go Games on Thursday. The windmill team had a very close entertaining game with their counterparts with strong performances from The Flynn and Costello twins and Darragh Flahive.

The bridge team had a difficult first half but made a great comeback in the second half, driven on by Sam Smith, Dylan Murphy and Charlie Sharp.

We then battled the elements on Sunday with training on the pitch in preparation for our next round of the County Go Games program. This Thursday, we host Ardfert in Blennerville at 6:30pm. Keep up the skills at home lads.

Seniors

Development League Round 2

St Pats 0-09 Scartaglin 1-05

With dark clouds overhead and rain on the horizon Scartaglin started off the scoring with three points. Killian Lynch opened the scoring for us with a point, Breandan Savage added two more points to our tally.

Conor Enright put another point for us with us in the lead by a point Scartaglin shot to hit the back of the net. As the match continued and the minutes counted down Breandan Savage added another two points to the board.

The whistle blew and the half time score stood at St Pats 0-06 to Scartaglin 1-03.

The second half started with misty rain which only made holding onto the ball that more difficult. Both teams worked with the rain to try to put scores on the board, Scartaglin were first to start the scoring in this half with a point. Breandan Savage took his shot to place it between the goalposts for another point.

As we were a draw and the clock was having less and less time left someone needed to score it was Shane Jordan who answered the call and kicked the ball to send it sailing over the post.

Scartaglin answered with a point which brought it back to be a draw again. As the clock ticked down to final minutes Breandan Savage put us a point ahead. We had some changes in the second half with Martin Savage replaced by Mikey Doody and Ali Gardezi replaced by Jack Lynch.

As nerves grew with us only a point ahead and the ball in Scartaglin’s possession more than once, St Pats made sure to keep them away from our goals as much as possible.

Conor Enright was subbed for Jamie Lynch, Darragh Moriarty by Adam Hegarty and Damien Cronin for Patrick Dowling. With close calls the final whistle blew with the full time score reading St Pats 0-09 Scartaglin 1-05.

Our seniors play at home against Churchill in their Round 4 of their Credit Union County Senior Football League at 7pm.

Congratulations

To John and Eileen Enright Derrymore who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary recently.
