Amazing Cars To Make Stop-Off In Tralee Next Weekend

SOME very fancy cars will be travelling through the county and making a stop-off in Tralee next weekend as the 2022 Bumblebee 1000 VIP Drive is about to begin.

This year the cars on this road trip can be seen in Straffan in Kildare, Adare in Limerick, and with a major focus on County Kerry as the cars will be available to view in Castleisland, Killarney, Tralee and the event finish line in Dingle.

The entry grid of amazing cars in this year’s Bumblebee 1000 VIP Drive is nothing short of spectacular.

Showcasing Lamborghini’s, McLarens, Bentleys, American muscle cars, sublime Nissan GTR’s, Audi supercars, AMG Mercedes, Jaguars, and a legendary Group B Cosworth car.

This amazing cavalcade of super, muscle, and luxury cars will all be on display at 5.30pm next Saturday at The Gleneagle Hotel V93 V6WF as the drivers and co-drivers park up their supercars.

On Sunday morning March the 13th, the Bumblebee 1000 VIP Drive event start line will be bustling with excitement at The Gleneagle Hotel, with the rolling exhibition of supercars cars available to view from 9.00am until they depart at 10.30 am.

The drivers will then head north into Tralee for a fuel stop & coffee at the Inver fuel station on the Castlemaine Road in Tralee V92 D8HD.

From there, this gallery of automotive artworks will head to Dingle via the spectacular climb up to Conor Pass and will finish the tour in Dingle at 1.30pm, at the Dingle Skellig Hotel V92 D5X2.

Bumblebee 1000 are working with the superb Little Blue Hero’s charity, a not-for-profit charity operated entirely by Garda members and staff.

It aims to help families in need from local communities in Ireland who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illness. Little Blue Hero’s representatives will be present throughout this event.

FRIDAY evening and the sound of revving engines filled the air as some amazing cars pulled into ‘The Rose Hotel’.

Stunning Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghini cars stood out the most but there were Austin Martins, Mercedes and Audis too creating quite a stir for people in the hotel.

The drivers of the cars were on ‘The Cannon Run’ which is billed as providing clients with unique VIP entertainment, travel and VIP luxury on trips all over Europe.

They are currently on an Irish trip from July 19 to July 22 and took in a visit to Tralee. It comes less than a week since the ‘Retro Cannonball’ run featuring more cool motors visited Ballygarry House Hotel. Here’s just some of the cars that pulled into the car park at The Rose Hotel. Any of them tickle your fancy?…

So Where’s The Cheapest Place In Town To Fill Up Your Motor?

Applegreen at Manor Village is the joint cheapest in town for petrol and diesel.

WE checked out where the cheapest petrol price in town was three weeks ago and €1.28.9 was the lowest we found at Nolan’s Esso on North Circular Road and ‘Top’ at Manor.

In that short space of time, a quick drive around to the stations on Wednesday morning revealed a six cent drop on that figure.

The cheapest places to fill up in Tralee now are the Applegreen stations in Fairies Cross and Manor Village at a price of €1.22.8 per litre.

Coming up just behind Applegreen are ‘Top’ in the Horan Centre and the ‘Inver’ station on the Castlemaine Road with a price of €1.22.9.

Then comes Nolan’s Esso on North Circular Road, Joe O’Connor’s Esso at Clash and Topaz in Manor on €1.23.9.

Five stations are priced €1.24.9. These include the well known garages, Kelliher’s of Rathass and McElligotts Oakpark along with O’Shea’s Texaco station in Blennerville, Amber just outside the entrance to Shanakill and Topaz  in Mounthawk also feature as one of the five more expensive places to fill up in Tralee.

How petrol and diesel prices (checked on Wednesday morning) rank in town:

Petrol Prices In Town Down 20c On This Time Last Year

Esso on the North Circular Road is the cheapest place to by petrol in town (as of Friday afternoon, January 2).

MOTORISTS in Tralee are enjoying petrol prices 20 cent cheaper on  this time last year, from €1.50 a litre to under €1.30.

As of Friday afternoon, the cheapest places to get petrol in town were Esso on the North Circular Road and Top at the Horan Centre with a price of €1.28.9.

The next best price is Applegreen €1.29.8, followed by the other Esso, O’Connor’s on Quill Street, Topaz in Manor, McElligotts Texaco and Amber and Inver which are all €1.29.9.

Topaz in Mounthawk and Texaco in Blennerville were both charging €1.30.9.

Looking at the prices nationally, Tralee is one of the cheapest places to get petrol, but the least expensive is in Templeglantine on the Kerry Limerick border with a price of €1.22.9.

Not surprisingly a petrol station in Dublin clocks in the highest at 165.9.

The good news for consumers is that prices are forecasted to fall further in the near future.
