IF you’re out and about next Sunday and fancy a coffee, then pop into Costa Coffee on The Mall and help out the Children’s Ward at University Hospital Kerry.
They are holding a family fun day at the cafe and promise some great entertainment. “We’ll have face-painting, arts and crafts fun, a raffle for some great prizes and Mickey and Minnie Mouse will pay a visit,” said Rebecca Byrne of Costa.
“We wanted to raise funds for a local cause and the Cashel Ward is very deserving of funding,” added Rebecca. The fun starts at 12 noon until 6pm and tickets for the raffle are already on sale in the cafe.
COSTA Coffee has received the go-ahead for a new outlet in Manor West Retail Park.
The applicant, Bryant Park, had been refused planning by Kerry County Council back in May because the location — next to Carpet Right at the entrance to the park — was zoned for retail warehousing in the Tralee Development Plan and that the proposed development does not include for the provision of car parking to serve the proposed café.

The company then appealed to An Bord Pleanála and the planning body has overturned the decision giving the company the green light for development.
The proposed development provides for the following the construction of a single storey building with a floor area of 203 sq. metres for use as a café.
The café will be used for the sale of hot and cold food and beverages for consumption on / off the premises. There will be external seating, signage and free standing totem sign. Full details of the planning decision can be read by clicking here
TABLE quiz aficionados were treated to a change of scenery on Wednesday in Costa Coffee when the pint glass was swapped for the coffee cup as part of a charity event in aid of Recovery Haven.
The in-store quiz, at the Mall cafe, was the brainchild of Ballyrickard woman, Claire Maher, who is the manager of the Tralee branch.
“It’s a fantastic cause. I’ve had a number of people close to me who have past away from Cancer, so it is something close to my heart,” said Claire Maher.
The cost for a table was €10, participants were treated to free cups of coffee along with some tasty treats. There was also a raffle with spot prizes.
“Along with helping Recovery Haven, it’s a nice way for people who don’t like the pressure of going to a pub and drinking alcohol to enjoy a table quiz,” said Claire.
Quiz-master on the night was local musician and (beard enthusiast) Ross Brassil. Everyone enjoyed the night with much needed funds raised for the Haven.
