WHILE the footballers are taking on Tipperary in Tralee next Sunday, the Kerry hurlers will also see their first action of the new year at the same time.
They face Cork in the 2017 Co-Op Superstores Munster senior hurling league in Mallow with a 2pm throw in.
This will be Kerry’s first competitive encounter under new manager Fintan O’Connor. Kerry had a challenge against CIT on Monday last which they won on a score of 4-14 to 1-20.

IT was a great Saturday night in Causeway as some fleet-footed Kerry hurlers strutted their stuff on the dance floor with their partners.
It was all part of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fundraiser – in a specially constructed marquee at McHales Stretford End – to help send the Kerry hurling team off to Orlando on a holiday after their Christy Ring and Division 2A winning exploits.
Over 500 people attended on the night to see Brendan O’Leary and Elaine Bunyan win the public vote, while Mikey Boyle and Elaine Ryall gained the judges vote.
There was some fierce style among the audience as our photos below show.
WITH around 500 people attending and fantastic entertainment, Causeway really was the place to be on Saturday night for the Kerry Hurlers’ Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser.
The event was held in a specially erected marquee at McHales Stretford End Bar, with the aim of raising cash to send the Kerry hurlers off to Orlando after the amazing year of success they’ve enjoyed.
Well it was some night and after an exhilarating opening performance, MC ‘Big Jim’ introduced the judges – Maurice Leahy, Toireasa Ferris, Murt Murphy and Lyndsey Kelly – followed by the pairs of contestants dancing individually to the delight of the crowd.
In the end Brendan O’Leary and Elaine Bunyan were delighted to named the public vote victors while Mikey Boyle and Elaine Ryall won the judges’ vote.
Enjoy the holiday lads!
