In May, Debenhams Retail Ireland Limited (DRIL) applied for court protection after the Debenhams UK withdrew financial support.
In June the examiner extended the amount of time to produce a survival scheme to save the 11 Debenhams stores in Ireland which the company employs 1,400 staff in Ireland.
Yesterday, an application was made by the examiner Kieran Wallace to extend this time again until August 19 to allow for the finalisation of the report. All stores remain open at this time.

AN incredible €2,531 was raised by Tesco workers in Manor West over the course of two days for Oxfam’s Nepal Earthquake appeal.
The workers decided to take their own initiative and place collection boxes out on the checkouts prompting shoppers in the store to take their lead and give generously.
“We’re blown away by the amount of money raised,” said Eileen Hanlon of Oxfam Tralee.
On April 25, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Napal causing widespread devastation and a death toll estimated to be over 8,000.
Two weeks later, while Nepal was still recovering, there was a second earthquake causing more fatalities and widespread devastation.
The amount raised is a lot more than what Oxfam Tralee would regularly get in one lump sum.
“People are great to extend their hand of generosity for these appeal, be it with the Ebola Crisis, Nepal or the Philippines,” said Eileen.
The cheque has been lodged and will go to help people in Nepal who are in grave need of food and shelter.
“It will go to help sanitization of water and shelter which is incredibly vital at the moment because it is about to come into monsoon season,” she said.

THE Xtra-vision store in Manor West will be re-branded as a predominantly HMV store.
It was announced by Hilco Capital (owners of Xtra-vision HMV) that an integrated store will officially open in Tralee in Manor West on Saturday, October 11.
What this means for customers is, the store will change its layout and signage to HMV, but still retain its Xtra-vision rentals sections. The store will also remain at its current premises in Manor West.
No new staff are expected to be taken on after the re-branding, which is said to be almost near completion.
“Integrating HMV with Xtra-vision is a very exciting way of bringing the HMV brand into towns all over Ireland, in many cases bringing the HMV experience to parts of the country that have never had a HMV store in close proximity,” said Larry Howard, CEO of Hilco Capital Ireland.

ONE of Tralee’s fashion institutions, Shindig, have opened a store in Manor West Retail Park – but this doesn’t spell the end for the Shindig store on Russell Street where they have been for 25 years.
“We’ve opened a store in Manor because it’s more convenient,” said owner, Gary Brosnan. “Parking is a major issue. Quite a lot of people are turned off from shopping in the town because of parking and Manor West offer free parking,” he said.
“There’s no common sense with regards to parking, people are left constantly running back to their cars because their ticket has expired, it’s an issue that needs to be addressed, until then, people are going to have a problem with parking in town,” said Gary.
“Parking isn’t the sole reason we’ve opened a store in Manor, there is a lot of footfall up there and it suits us to be there, it’s good for retail because there is a lot of clothes shops in Manor as well,” said Gary.

Along with the new store in Manor West, Shindig, have launched a website to offer customers the choice of clicking on which item they want online and collecting it in one of the stores or they’ll send them overseas for customers living abroad.
The Shindig store in Russell Street which first opened its doors 25 years ago in 1989 will remain open. Gary Brosnan also ran the men’s fashion store, Frontier, which was situated on Castle Street for a number of years.
“Part of the reason why we’ve started a website is we have customers who have moved away from Tralee, but still want to buy our clothes,” said Gary.
“An awful lot of young people have moved out of town and moved to cities, either in Ireland, Britain, Australia or in America,” said Gary.
“There’s a retail revolution happening on the Internet, but also a lot of our customers are emigrating so it makes sense for us to be online,” said Gary.
DURING Rose festival week you’ll be able to sample some of the unique food of the county as the ‘Taste of Kerry’ comes back to Manor West Retail Park.
The event will take place on Saturday/Sunday, August 16/17. The event will run from noon to 6pm on both days.
“There is always such a great atmosphere here when we host the Taste of Tralee Food Fair and we are delighted we can go that extra mile to give our customers the most enjoyable day possible,” said Derek Rusk, Manor West Centre Manager.
The ever popular event, in association with Taste Kerry is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the massive amount of talent and creativity of the Kingdom’s Artisan Producers.
Taking place in the main shopping mall, thousands of visitors will be given the opportunity to sample and purchase locally produced products while Radio Kerry broadcasts from outside with lots of giveaways and some high profile interviews on Saturday.
Not only that but there will be face painting and balloon modelling both days and some special guests such as Spongebob Squarepants and Mickey Mouse and more there to entertain the kids on Saturday.

A RED tide swept into Tralee yesterday afternoon as Munster players, Conor Murray, Keith Earls, Donnacha Ryan, Felix Jones and BJ Botha among others made appearances at Lifestyle Sports in Manor West and Tralee Rugby Club.
The players are visiting Kerry as part of ‘The Munster Race’. This is where the squad split up into six groups and tour the six counties of the province before ending up in Dingle.
The purpose is both a team building exercise and a chance for the players to meet fans who might not be able to make it to Thomand Park this year.
“I have great experiences of Tralee, I used to come down here to the Aqua Dome when I was younger, I think we’re going to pop back there later a few of us for a swim,” said Munster and Ireland international Keith Earls.
“The overall experience has been great. Every place we’ve been has been brilliant to us between the food and activities,” said Keith.
“We’re started off in Killaloe and went to the Killarney club yesterday. This morning we went to the top of Molls Gap on a helicopter so that was a good thrill,” said Munster’s Felix Jones.

“It’s a great way for the guys to get out and meet the people who we’re playing for,” said Felix.
“I’ve been to Tralee a good bit, ever since I was a kid on the way down to Derrynane or Castlecove. It’s a great spot,” said Felix.
