NA Gaeil GAA usually holds their annual race night around this time of the year and are determined that the show will go on regardless, in a safe manner of course.
Therefore, they are all set for an all-sponsored Virtual Race Night for this Friday, December 11 at 8.30pm.
Whilst obeying Government and GAA guidelines since the re-commencement of activities in June, all of the teams, from U-6‘s to senior men and ladies, have been training and playing a full season of games at all levels.

Costs and expenses associated with a multitude of activities have placed a huge strain on the club finances as they have been obliged to indefinitely cancel their weekly Lotto and Bingo.
They are now appealing to our members, supporters and the wider public to support Na Gaeil at this difficult time by contributing to the Race Night.
Buying a horse for €40 will ensure the continued growth and development of the club. You can do this by contacting any club officer or member of the race committee and you can buy a horse online using the link: https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Na%20Gaeil%20CLG/EventRegistration
NA Gaeil GAA has relaunched their club lottery which was suspended in March due to the Covid-19 Restrictions.
They are inviting all club members and indeed people in the wider community to support the first draw of our relaunched lottery which will be on Tuesday October 13th at the Na Gaeil clubhouse at 9.30pm.
For those supporters that have bought repeated entry tickets, please also note that they will be extending the end-date of these tickets by 30 weeks to compensate for the period where there were no draws.
Continued below…
You can choose four numbers from 1 to 32 and there will be five lucky dip draws for €20 for those entered each week that the jackpot is not won.
Tickets cost €2 each or three for €5. For those that like to pay in advance €50 will enter you in the draw for 26 weeks and €100 will ensure you are entered for the full 52 weeks. The current jackpot stands at €4,300.
They are encouraging all club members, supporters and their families and also members of the wider community to support the club lottery, as it is a very important source of funding for the club’s activities at all levels and grades.
It is more vital than ever in the current climate as their usual fundraising initiatives have been severely restricted due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic.
They are also adding a facility to play the lotto on-line. This will be made available through the Na Gaeil Club Website: http://www.nagaeil.ie where they will be inviting members and supporters at home and abroad to register and participate in support of the club.
They are also developing a Na Gaeil Club Smart Phone App which will be available shortly for download from the Na Gaeil website.
THE celebrations continued this week for Na Gaeil GAA Club as some of the panel and management visited primary schools on Tuesday.
They were crowned All-Ireland Junior Club champions after victory in Croke Park on Saturday afternoon and have enjoyed the past few days marking the momentous win.
They toured the cup to schools connected with the Oakpark club yesterday with the biggest cheers coming at Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn, next door to their Killeen base, where no fewer than 16 of the panel went to school many moons ago.

The entire student body packed the hall to welcome the heroes, with many dressed in Na Gaeil kits and in full voice for the visitors.
Then it was on to Listellick NS where players Kieran Dineen, Jordan Murphy, Ruairi O’Sullivan, Niall O’Mahony, Timmy Culloty and Shane Fitzgerald received their early education, as well as Chairman of the club, Tim Lynch.
CBS Primary, which has nurtured the footballing talent of children from various clubs in town, welcomed past pupils Dara and Eoghan Sheehy, Eoin Doody, hat-trick hero Ian McCarthy, Damien Burke, Chris Horan and Rory Murphy.
Finally, Caherleaheen NS held a special reception for teacher Paul Daly and past pupil and current player Darragh Reen.
Paul taught Darragh at Caherleaheen NS. Paul was the oldest player on the Na Gaeil team with Darragh the youngest and both came on as substitutes on Saturday scoring a point each.
With secondary schools also on Na Gaeil’s radar for a visit, the celebrations will continue for some time. Scroll down for photos…
THEY’LL be celebrating all weekend in Oakpark after Na Gaeil’s historic win in Croke Park today to win the All-Ireland Junior Club title.
They were roared on to victory by huge support, one of whom was John Griffin, father of forward Michael Griffin.
John, who is County Tourism Officer with Kerry County Council, sent us some photos of the fans and the players enjoying the win. Scroll down for photos…
Na Gaeil are All-Ireland Junior Club Champions after the Oakpark club beat Rathgarogue-Cushinstown by 3-20 to 1-5 to make it the greatest day in their short history.
It was an easy win in the end after a tight first 25 minutes, when there was little between the teams on the scoreboard as Na Gaeil led by 0-6 to 04.
But on 26 minutes, Ian McCarthy capitalised on a mistake from the Wexford men’s kickout to score a goal and put daylight between the sides.

Ian McCarthy’s fine point from 30 yards saw them six points clear and when Ryan O’Neill punched over another deep into injury time they were cruising.
However, the Wexford side were thrown a lifeline with a penalty at the very end of the half and goalkeeper Nicky Sinnott hit it hard and low to the corner to leave the scores 1-8 to 1-4 at halftime.
Within five minutes of the restart, Na Gaeil had three points on the board from Michael Griffin, Diarmuid Herlihy and Ian McCarthy, before the killer blow on 36 minutes when McCarthy goaled again, after collecting the rebound from a shot by Diarmuid Herlihy which hit the bar.
Two quick points within a minute later put Na Gaeil 12 points up to really knock the stuffing out of Rathgarogue-Cushinstown — the score 2-13 to 1-4.
Diarmuid Herlihy had a brace of beautifully taken scores on the 39th and 41st minutes while Jack Barry got in on the action with a score on 42 minutes.
Na Gaeil didn’t score again until the 53th minute when Dara Devine pointed a free. Darragh Reen, Damien B0urke and veteran Paul Daly completed the point scoring and it was fitting that man of the match Ian McCarthy got the last score for his hat-trick and a 3-20 to 1-5 final score.
There were great celebrations in Croke Park when captain, Eoin Doody, lifted the cup and no doubt they will carry on later at the clubhouse in Killeen when the team and supporters get back to Tralee. Well done to all in the club on a fantastic victory!
NA Gaeil GAA Club is hosting its second Golf Classic in O’Mahony’s Point, Killarney on Friday, May 31 and once again there is a very special prize if a golfer gets very lucky.
A Toyota Yaris Hybrid will be presented to the person who gets a hole in one on the Par 3 18th and Tim Kelliher of Kelliher’s Toyota at Rathass said the company is happy to sponsor the prize.
The club celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018 and it was another successful one for the club. They now cater for 400 juvenile members and their senior male and female teams compete in Division 1 of the County League.

They also have two senior players, Jack Barry and Diarmuid O’Connor on the Kerry senior panel.
Teams of four are €400, tee box sponsorship €100. There will also be a meal provided in the clubhouse for all participants so if you’re interested, contact Donal Lucey on 087 257 7729 for more. All funds raised will go back into the club to improve their facilities.
FORTY years after a meeting in the Meadowlands Hotel saw Na Gaeil founded, around 250 of the club faithful gathered at their clubhouse in Killeen for a great celebration on Saturday night.
It’s been some journey from a green space in Ard Na Lí to the great facilities in Killeen they have now and 2018 has, arguably, been the club’s best year yet.
They’ve played in the top tier of the county league for the first time, boasted some high profile players like Diarmuid O’Connor and Stefan Okunbor who made the Eirgrid All-Ireland U20 Team Of The Year and the ladies won the Munster Club Intermediate title.

It all started back in May 1978, when the first motion was put forward by residents associations to set up a GAA club to cater for the needs of the youth of north Tralee and the Oakpark area.
Following this, on November 8, a meeting of interested parties was held in The Meadowlands Hotel in Oakpark. At this meeting, the name ‘Na Gaeil’ was decided upon and Denis Reen was elected the first chairman of Na Gaeil C.L.G.. Pádraig Murphy was elected first president of the club.
Morgan Sheehy, the current Chairman of the club, said it was fitting to hold such a celebration.
“Tonight is a great occasion to celebrate the past and also to celebrate the successes over the past number of months at junior and senior level. We started from humble beginnings in Ard Na Lí in a small pitch with a small catchment of players and it’s grown since then,” said Morgan.
Many stalwarts from the club were present on a wonderful night to enjoy a meal and entertainment, where stories were told and some members who have passed away over the years were remembered. Scroll down for photos…
IT enjoyed two sell-out performances in February and the reaction was so positive a hit comedy/drama will return to the Na Gaeil GAA Clubhouse at the end of the month.
Due to popular demand, the hugely successful ‘One Murder and a Christening’, penned by Mary Quirke, will make a welcome return to the stage on Thursday, March 29.
“People left the hall both nights last month with pains in their faces and sides from laughing so hard, and the recurring comment afterwards was that they would come again to see it if they could and recommend it highly to friends and family,” said Margaret Doody from Na Gaeil.
Continued below…
“On that basis then, a decision was reached to go with a rerun. The club wants to emphasise that it’s an occasion to be enjoyed by all, and you certainly don’t have to be affiliated to Na Gaeil to come along and enjoy the comedy,” said Margaret.
Tickets for this over 18s only show are now on sale in the club bar but be quick, because if the last performances are anything to go by, they won’t be there long.
NA Gaeil clubhouse was the place to be last weekend where the hilarious comedy, ‘One Murder & A Christening’ was staged over Friday and Saturday nights.
Due to the success of last year’s ‘One Wedding & A Funeral’, tickets for this event sold out within days of being advertised. Those lucky enough to secure a seat were treated to a fun filled night from start to finish.
From the moment these amateur thespians stepped on stage it was a laugh a minute, full of comic innuendos and one-liners, which entertained the very receptive audience as the plot unfolded.

This script by the talented Mary Quirke far exceeded people’s expectations with many of the audience commenting that this production could well be taken on tour.
People were awestruck by the transformation of the clubhouse on the night and amazed at the standard of the overall production.
The ultimate compliment from both shows was that people would love to see this outstanding comedy/drama again and again. The club thanked all for the tremendous commitment from everyone involved. Scroll down for photos…

And then there’s the minors.
This year, three players from the club – Stefan Okunbor, Ryan O’Neill and Diarmuid O’Connor – were on the Kerry minor panel that won the All-Ireland final, while another player, Niall O’Mahony, picked up a Minor B All-Ireland title with the Kerry minor hurlers.
On Friday night, the lads brought the Tommy Markham Cup to the clubhouse and there was a huge crowd of all ages there to greet it.

Diarmuid O’Connor, who scored that opening goal in the All-Ireland final, was delighted to bring it home with his teammates.
“The club is where you start off and ever since I first went down to the pitch here I dreamed of playing in Croke Park. Winning something there is that dream come true,” he told TraleeToday.
And to have three of them up at headquarters that day was amazing?
“Oh yeah, it’s unbelievable. It just shows the hard work the trainers and coaches from the club have been putting in and the club is going from strength to strength. It’s great really.”
The seniors aren’t doing too bad either.
“Yeah, the seniors also had a fine win against Listowel last weekend and are looking forward to a final against Glenbeigh. Hopefully they can go on and win that now,” said Diarmuid, who is a bit too young yet to help them out in that one, although Stefan is involved in the side vying for silverware.
The positive position in which the club is in was echoed by its PRO, Michael Herlihy.

“We’re riding on the crest of a wave at the moment because we have so many minor medals. We’re one of only three clubs where players were involved in all three All-Ireland minor finals, so that’s fantastic really. Andrew Barry won a junior All-Ireland medal as well this year and his brother Jack won the Sigerson Cup. Niall O’Mahony won a Minor B All-Ireland Hurling medal so everything is going well in the club. It’s testament to the underage structure over the last ten years in the club, it’s all coming to fruition now. It’s a great boost for the club and a great boost for the senior team going on to the county junior final,” said Michael.
It really is a golden age for Na Gaeil and hopefully we’ll see these minor heroes on the big stage again in a few years. Best of luck to the seniors whenever they get to play their final. Scroll down for photos…

We’ve two short dramatic pieces as well – which was part of our Scar programme – and we’re hoping for a good night,” she said.
The show was attended by people of all ages and all funds raised on the night went towards the fund for the Féile competition this summer. Scroll down for photos…
