WHILE it’s not uncommon for Kerry stars to visit their club’s summer camps every year, this time it was a bit more special at Kerins O’Rahillys.

Players David Moran and Jack Savage, along with Kerry selector Micheál Quirke, popped by their club’s juvenile camp on Thursday morning with a shiny visitor, much to the delight of young players.

Sam Maguire proved a big attraction, with kids and parents receiving ample time to pose with the cup and their local heroes.

As well as the current Kerry players, Kingdom heroes of the past like Barry O’Shea, Barry John Keane, Declan Quill and Shane Enright were also there with their kids to enjoy the morning. Scroll down for photos…

PHOTOS: Kerry GAA Legends Enjoying Fundraising Drive Stateside

A GROUP of Kerry legends have been enjoying themselves in the States over the past few days and of course, they’ve got Sam with them as well.

The ex-Kerry GAA stars and officials are over for the week as part of a major fundraising initiative in the US, which will culminate with a charity auction tonight in New York to raise funds for the Centre of Excellence project in Currans.

Eoin ‘Bomber’ Liston has been tweeting photos with a few of his old compadres and it looks like they are having a pretty good time.

Along with ‘Bomber’, other ex-Kerry stars on the trip are, Ogie Moran, Ambrose O’Donovan, Sean Walsh and Ger O’Keeffe.

Keeping an eyes on things, Micheal O’Muircheartaigh, can be spotted in one of the photos as well, adding to the stellar line-up of Kerry GAA personalities.

Mick Galwey, is part of the troupe also, but he’s not gatecrashing! In 1986 ‘Gaillimh’ won his only All-Ireland with Kerry before concentrating on rugby.

Two big men enjoying the finer things in life.

Can anyone spot the Kerrymen?

Gooch Humours The Boys From The West By Posing With ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ Poster

Colm Cooper with the ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ Poster.

KERRY GAA legend Colm Cooper showed he was game for a laugh by posing with a famous Mayo slogan today.

The Gooch has broken Mayo hearts many times over the years (see video below) but he went some way to building bridges with the western county, by posing with the boys of St. Muredachs College, Ballina this morning and their ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ poster.

In what may get him a bit of stick from the rest of the lads in training, Colm was clearly thinking nothing of the recent rivalry between the two counties as he smiles away in the photo.

Mayo have been knocking on the door in the last few championships and beat Kerry at Fitzgerald Stadium, 2-11 to 0-10 earlier this year, so we’re hoping that this photo doesn’t come back to haunt us in September!

Oh, and just to remind you why the master would bring back bad memories to Mayo folk…

BARRY John Keane was a happy man on Saturday morning as he and his Kerins O’Rahilly’s teammate, Cormac Coffey, paraded the Sam Maguire and Tom Markham Cups around Healy Park in Ballyrickard.

“It’s a dream come true, when I was training all year, I didn’t really think of these moments, I was just ready for battle,” said Barry John Keane.

“Once we got over the line moments like this started coming into my head, bringing the cup around here is massive for the kids,” said Barry John.

“Sometimes I come down to underage training and give a hand, when I look at the kids, I think that used to me, wouldnt it be great if I could bring the cup back,” said Barry John.

Barry John and Cormac, brought the cups around Healy Park on Saturday morning during Juvenile training.

“When I was a kid, Declan Quill and Mike Quirke would come to the club with the cup and I’d be thinking they are the men I need to emulate,” said Barry John.

“It all starts here, this is where I learned how to play, the people in the background in the club have to take a lot of credit as well.”
