AFTER months of rehearsals, success at county and provincial level, a group of youngsters from the Na Gaeil club will bid for All-Ireland glory this weekend.
On this Friday evening, a coach full of young people, their mentors, families and friends will set off for Knockarea, Sligo for the All-Ireland Final of Scór Na nÓg.

The Léiriú group representing Na Gaeil, Tralee /St Brendan’s Board, made up of Barry Sugrue, Liam Óg Kingston, Joshua Roche, Dearbhla Quirke, Aine & Aoife O’Sullivan, Isabelle and Emily Crowe will be hoping their performance of the Mary Quirke penned “The Irish Mammy” will be enough to win the title.
Mary Quirke and Margaret Doody have been getting the young performers prepared for the final and all at Na Gaeil and indeed in town will be hoping they bring home medals after the weekend. Best of luck!
NA Gaeil and St Pat’s club youngsters came home with county honours from the annual Scór Na bPáistí finals held on Sunday last in Killorglin and in Foilmore.
The Blennerville club came first in the Ballad Group competition while Na Gaeil were successful in Léiriú Stáitse. Tralee Parnells were second in the quiz competition. Well done to all who took part.

THE Brothers Pearse Club (Cnoc na hEaglaise) Quiz Team finished in 2nd place in the Senior Scór All-Ireland final, which took place in ‘The Gleneagle’, Killarney, last Saturday, April 2.
The Churchill lads scored 68 out of 80, which was great scoring/answering, but they were pipped by the Offaly team from Fear Bán, who lost out to them last year.
The dedicated and hard-working Churchill quiz men of Mícheál Mag Fhionnbhair (Gaynor), Seán Ó Flaithearta’, Pól Ó Cullota, and Alex Ó Dónaill were so close to becoming winners, but nonetheless, it was a great achievement which adds to two ‘firsts’ (’14, ’15) from the team.
Their success is great for the Tralee/Naomh Breandán GAA Boards and a further boost for Scór in the Greater Tralee area.
THE Greater Tralee District Senior Scór was held in Ballymac Community Hall last Friday night and in the five categories, Na Gaeil won three and Ballymacelligott brought home the other two prizes.
They have now qualified to take part in the Kerry County Final which will be held on February 6 in Castleisland.
From Na Gaeil, Mary Ellen Uí Chonchúir, won in Amhránaíocht (solo singing), while her clubmate, Sorcha Uí Shúilleabháin, was deemed best in Aithriseoireacht (recitation/storytelling).

The Na Gaeil Bailéadghrúpa (ballad group), comprising of Treasa Céitinn, Pádraig Mac Síthigh, Tadhg Ó Loinsigh, Tracey Uí Mhuirthile, Rachel Uí Mhuimhneacháin, made it a hat-trick on the night for the club.
Ballymacelligott, won Léiriú (stage presentation) category for ‘The Big Fellow’ with their group comprised of Muiris Ó Conaill, Tomás Ó Súilleabháin, Máire Uí Laighin, Seán Ó Brosnacháin, Nóra Uí Churráin, Fiontán Ó Ceallaigh, Tomás Ó Dálaigh and Cillian Ó Raithile.
Competing for Ballymacelligott to win them the Seit (set-dancing competition) were Máire Uí Laighin, Fiontán Ó Ceallaigh, Cáit Uí Cheallaigh, Tomás Ó Dálaigh, KarenUí Dhálaigh, Tomás de Bastábla, Colette Uí Choileáin and Dónal Ó Raithile.
Every GAA Club in Kerry is invited to partake in the Kerry Senior Table Quiz on Saturday, February 6 in Oileán Ciarraí.
The winning team will go straight to the All-Ireland which will be held in the INEC, April 2. Churchill are the present All-Ireland Senior Scór Quiz Champions.
Now is the time to prepare for primary school level Scór which will begin in March.
Each district Scór na bPáistí is to be finished by 26th March. The County Semi-finals will be held on April 9/10 and the County Final will take place on April 17.
