THE Dome was a very different place on Saturday from the Rose Ball the night before, as two events provided great entertainment for visitors.

In the main part of the Dome, a charity Zumbathon was held and it was well attended with those taking part raising money for the ‘Inspired’ group.

Just yards away in the Pavilion part of the Dome, Taste Kerry held ‘The Kerry Food And Drink Experience’, a mouth-watering event to highlight the best the county has to offer when it comes to cuisine during the Festival.

Organised as part of this year’s Rose of Tralee Festival, visitors had the opportunity to taste and sample a wide and varied selection of Kerry produce.

Some of the finest food and drink producers in the county exhibited their products and there was three cookery demos from three different chefs on the day; Chef Noel Keane from Eabha Joans Restaurant, Listowel; Chef Sid Sheehan from Nourish and Chef Mark Murphy from the Dingle Cookery School.

The event was a great success with many taking shelter from the bad weather to enjoy the day. Scroll down for photos from both events…

A LARGE crowd of people showed up at the Ashe Hotel on Friday night to support an Inspired event.

A Zumbathon, organised by the group and instructor Linda Flanagan, was a great success and a brilliant way for people to get active. Of course the members of Inspired are no strangers to the activity.

“They do Zumba every Monday and it’s one of the most popular classes during the week, they really love it,” said Marie O’Connor, a volunteer with the group. “Linda has been a great supporter of ours and she decided to organise the night,” she added.

Members of Inspired and friends took the floor for two hours between 7-9pm and had a great time, raising  much needed funds for the group which is based in Friary Lane.

Participants in the Inspired project with an intellectual disability, aspire towards active citizenship, inclusion in the local community, contributing through meaningful work, learning relevant lifeskills, participarting in business and creating through art, craft and drama. Zumbathon
A Zumbathon will be held here in town to help raise funds for the ‘Inspired Group’.

A ZUMBATHON is all set to be held this coming Saturday during the Rose of Tralee with all funds raised from the event going straight towards helping out the local ‘Inspired’ group who do great work within the community.

The event will be held in the Dome on August 15 from 3-5pm with tickets set to cost between €10-€15, with children €5 for what promises to be an exciting and fun day out for all involved.

The day will be filled with over two hours of Zumba dancing with instructors coming from all over the country to help out for the worthy cause.

“Inspired are an ongoing community development project whose aim is to allow people with intellectual disabilities to become actively involved in their communities,” said volunteer Yvonne O’Brien speaking to TraleeToday.ie about the group back in July.

“It allows them to go on work experience and to show the people that they have such an ability to do things once they’re asked what they’d like to do,” she finished.

To inquire about the buying of tickets, call 086 4009916 for details.
