There will be prolonged falls of very heavy rain expected overnight Friday and during Saturday with totals of 30 to 50mm, larger totals on higher ground. Further flooding is expected.

The warning is valid from midnight tonight through all of Saturday.

Kerry County Council is advising property owners, particularly in areas prone to flooding to take appropriate measures to minimise the risk of flooding to their properties.

Council staff are assessing the situation and regular updates will be provided through the local media, on the Council website and on Twitter.

It could be a case of getting the sandbags out again for some homeowners in estates around town, while businesses which would have been hoping for a busy shopping day tomorrow are sure to be hit again.
