AGM: The AGM took place last Thursday and was well attended with 38 members showing up. After the minutes were read, the Chairman issued a short address thanking everyone for a very successful 2015.
The Treasurer followed and reported a healthy set of accounts again for the coming season. The PRO was next and I offered a sincere thank you to all of the local media who thankfully publish our notes and photos.
I also reported on a few fundraising events for Pieta House and for Fenit Lifeboats. John Edwards, Safety Officer, finished off the reports and thanked everyone for their help and co operation in running a very safe 2015.
The election of officers was next and all current officers were re elected in opposed .
President: PJ Costello, Chairman: Michael Slattery, Secretary: CathyFisher, Treasurer: Denis Cronin, Safety Officer: John Edwards and PRO: Kevin Williams .
Various Items were then discussed, and the main item on discussion was a timing system. It was decided not to purchase, but to tighten up the finish lines and purchase new swim hats instead.
Winter Swimming: Winter Swimming continued last Sunday as usual and a great turnout of 27 swimmers showed up. The wind was blowing force 5 with a bit of rain about but the sun was peeking out as we entered the water.
The water temperature had risen a full 2c from last Sunday and was measured at 9.2c. This combined with a very warm 14c air temp made for a great swim with a good roll in the water.
Everyone stayed in for 10 to 15 minutes with a couple of die hards heading for the point and back. Teas, Coffees and Hot Chocolate and Cake were enjoyed by all afterwards. Come along and join us on Sunday’s as we build up to our Big Easter Draw.
