THERE were nine new COVID-19 cases in the Tralee Local Electoral Area reported in the 14 day period up to Tuesday, May 10, according to data provided by the HSE and Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).

It’s the electoral area with the largest amount of cases and the most per head of population in the county during that period, at 27.2 per 100,000 of population, but it’s less than one fifth of the national incidence rate of 130 per 100,000 in the same period.

All the other LEAs in Kerry — Listowel, Killarney LEA, Kenmare, Corca Dhuibhne and Castleisland — saw less than five cases each in the 14 day period. These areas are not allocated an incidence rate for COVID-19 as a result.

Meanwhile, there were four additional deaths and 425 new cases confirmed nationally this afternoon by the HPSC. The county by county breakdown was not given today.
