A BALLYMAC woman has been crowned as Luxembourg’s 15th Rose at their Rose Ball, which took place on Saturday, March 12. She will now go on to represent the country at the 2016 Rose of Tralee Festival from August 17-23.

Twenty year old Síle Reidy, originally from the Kielduff area, studies Business with Accounting and Finance at the University of Limerick, but currently works at Credit Suisse in Luxembourg. She was chosen from five contestants as she wowed the judges with her charm and charisma during interviews.

Síle, who has attended the Rose of Tralee parade every year in the past, will return in the summer, this time as one of 69 women competing in the International Rose final.

Despite living away from her home, she doesn’t feel homesick thanks to the strong Irish community within the country. Only once has a Luxembourg Rose won, back in 2012, but she relishes the chance to represent them and put them on the map as living in the country has lived up to her expectations.
