Silverware for Tralee Parnells Camogie under 15s:
There was silverware for Tralee Parnells Camogie under 15s as the 2019 winners of the Plate Final in the Tom Healy Memorial Tournament.
Well done to all the players who competed in our 3 matches at the Tom Healy Memorial Tournament on Wednesday evening October 2nd in Abbeydorney GAA Complex.
Under 14 Hurlers are South Kerry Division 1 champions:
Our Under 14s finished the year as South Kerry Division 1 champions with a hard fought 1 point win over Rathmore under lights in Caherslee on a score of 1-9 1-8.
After being beaten in an All Ireland Féile semi final and Co League final during the year, it was fitting that this team finally got some silverware to show for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Parnells half time lead of 6 points (1-7 0-4) stayed relatively intact as they were still 5 points up with about 7 minutes to go. Rathmore never gave up and got 1-1 in quick succession, that could so nearly have been 2-0 only for a superb save by Cian in the Parnells goal. We finished on the attack and were just about deserved winners when the final whistle blew.
Captain Dylan Cunningham was presented with the shield by South Kerry GDA Colm O’Brien.
Well Done Camogie under 13s:
On Saturday at the girls did fantastic at the Veronica stack tournament in Spa Gaa grounds Killarney. We finished 3rd in the table, after losing to Monaleen 1-4 to 0-0,beating AbbeyKilLix scoring 7-2 to , n drawing with Millstreet 0-0 to 0-0, this put us into a cup semi final against Killarney, which we lost 1-4 to 0-0,but what a massive effort by all of them.
I would like to say a big thanks to all the girls who played in today’s tournament in the wet conditions, what performances all over the field, ye all made me so proud and then some, to get to a cup semi final when the likes of Millstreet and Causeway ended up in the Shield competition what an achievement, roll on next year, thanks again girls.
Under 10 Hurling:
Well done to the two Parnells teams that competed in the Denis Nagle Tournament in Rathmore. The ‘White’ team put in three good performances to finish second in a very strong group. The ‘Blue’ team won two games and drew the third and can be very happy with their outing.
This was our last competition of the year and the hurling season has now officially finished. Well done to the players and coaches for a fantastic year
We have one final outing on Friday 4th – the now traditional U10 end of season Bowling and Pizza night in Bowling Buddies – 7.00 to 8.30 pm.
Under 10 Camogie:
And that’s a wrap!. Our u10 campaign has come to a end in terrible conditions at the Veronica stack tournament in Spa Gaa grounds. 🌧🌨🌧🌨. Again we fielded two teams of 12 players for the u10 blitz one of the few clubs to do so.
Both teams played so well in the conditions holding their own against some very strong opposition(as noted earlier many clubs with only 1 team while we had some u8s to make up the two teams).
All the skills on show but the biggest aspect and commented on by opposition coaches was the work rate of the girls the amount of blocks and dispossession in each game was excellent.
We were 1 score away in our last game from making a semi final so shows how close the girls came after 3 games and with so many of our older and stronger players missing makes the performances so much better.
Despite the rain the girls once again acquitted themselves so well, repeated and wore the club colours with pride on their chest and are a credit to their families they are so well behaved and are so much fun to coach (that’s no saying there not a wild bunch 😂😂😂). Looking forward to getting back at it next year already.
Camogie under 15s:
Well played today Tralee Parnells under 15s in challenging conditions at a rain-soaked Spa GAA grounds in Killarney. Our group games saw us take on Monaleen from Limerick, Enniskeane from Cork and local side Causeway.
In all 3 matches we were up against superior numbers of older squads and strong benches, but our own players were undaunted and battled well from start to finish. Great defending and goalkeeping saw us repulse repeated attacks and prevent large number of scores that looked certain to go in.
Through midfield and into the forwards, we saw several players get on the score sheet including Gráinne and Aoife, in team moves where our attackers backed each other up and provide the needed passes.
This under 15 squad will form the 2020 under Tralee Parnells 16 team next spring, so the mentors are in no doubt the future looks bright after their performances in these last few recent outings.
Best Wishes to Dynamic Powerlifting Club:
Tralee Parnells wish Good Luck to our player, volunteer coach and mentor Diarmuid Brennan, setting up Dynamic powerlifting club, in their new location on Dan Spring Road in Tralee.
