U7 Boys and Girls
Following an intense training session last Friday the Tralee Parnells Under 7’s travelled to Crotta on Saturday morning for a few glorious games of hurling in the sunshine. A combination of ground and off the ground hurling tested all level of skills and Tralee Parnells rose to the challenge. The team left Crotta with the sound of “Come on Parnells” ringing in the air. Congratulations to our newest players of the week: Thomas Boyle and Aoibhín Long. A round of applause to two great players.  newcomers are always to come along on Friday night at 6pm.  We still have new players joining the squad so it’s never too late in the season to start.

U9 Boys

Tralee Parnells U9 Boys who visited Crotta

Our U9’s had another busy Tuesday evening when they visited Crotta.  We were able to field four teams, with one team resting at any time and getting to use the fantastic ball wall at Dromakee.  All of the boys played really well against an excellent Crotta side with some tough games.  Everyone gave something on the field showing that they are improving, all of the time.  Well done boys, keep up the good work.

U8 Girls

Tralee Parnells U8 Parnells Girls after Playing Causeway at Home in Caherslee

Our U8s girls had a fantastic evening on Wednesday when they put up a fierce battle against Causeway who came to visit us in Caherslee. Our players really got stuck in and continued to improve as the game progressed. Thank you to all of the parents who continue to bring their girls to training and for supporting their girls on the night.  Thank you also to our youth coach Saoirse Maloney for being our referee.

U10 Girls

Just like the U8s, our U10s also had a great evening of camogie against Causeway on Wednesday evening in Caherslee. It was brilliant to see all the girls using the skills that have been practised over the past few months and really getting stuck in. The coaches are delighted with this fantastic group of girls that have come on in leaps and bounds over the season so far in training and were delighted to get some match practice in.  The girls are looking forward to their next fixture against Killarney.

U12 Girls

Tralee Parnells U12 Blue Camogie Team who Played Kileedy at the weekend

The U12 Blue team travelled to the hurling heartland of Kileedy, Co.Limerick last Saturday morning and enjoyed a great game of Camogie. It was great to see that our girls were able to hold their own against such strong opposition. The final scoreline favoured Kileedy by a few points. Thanks to David Brick for organising and to the players from the Amber team who joined us.

Camogie Feile Competition

Tralee Parnells U15s Feile Camogie Team who defeated Causeway in round two

Our U15 girls played their second feile match away to Causeway on Friday night. All the girls played their hearts out finishing with a well deserved win.  Well done to all involved.  The girls will play Killarney next weekend.

Minor Hurling
Hard luck to our Minor hurlers who were unlucky to lose to Lixnaw in the minor Championship quarter final. The team where missing a few players and put in a huge effort on the day but unfortunately came up short against strong opposition.  Well done lads, you are a credit to the club. Final sore:Lixnaw 2-12 Tralee Parnells 2-8.

Intermediate Hurling

Tralee Parnells Panel who defeated Crotta O’Neills in the Intermediate Championship Quarter Final

Our Intermediate hurlers had their second game of the Intermediate championship on Sunday with an away tie against Crotta O’Neills in the quarter final.

In a tight opening quarter where both teams were wasteful in possession and guilty of missing chances our captain Gearoid Doc Doherty showed a cool head throughout scoring all of our points in the first quarter which saw Parnells go in at the first water break leading 0-5 to 0-1.

Crotta rallied in the second quarter and really went at Parnells outscoring us 1-2 to 0-3 leaving the score at half time Parnells 0-8 to Crotta 1-3.  After the half time break Parnells came out a different team with Daragh Reen showing why he is one of the finest young hurlers in Kerry with four unanswered points one more spectacular than the next following some wonderful team play.

At this point our backs were well on top of the Crotta forwards snuffing out their attacks and setting up attack after attack for the Parnell forwards.  In the last quarter Parnells tightened their grip on the game following a wonderful team move which saw Doc bury the ball into the back of the Crotta net.

Two minutes later a free floated in by Doc was met in the air by sub Cillian O Riordan (Massy) and ended up in the back of the Crotta net leaving the score 2-12 to 0-8.  Two more super points from Daragh Reen and one apiece for Niall Cassidy and Luke Barrett (who had to go off injured soon after) saw Parnells run out winners 2-17 to 1-7.  It was a really good performance from our men who are improving with each game.

Some very good performances on the day especially from our six backs who closed out the Crotta attack all day but best on the day were Daragh Reen finishing with 7 points from play and our captain Doc Doherty who finished the game with a total of 1-9.  Semi final will be next on the 11th of September as we await our opponents from one of Kilgarven, Kilmoyley, or Causeway.  Parnells Abu !
