Two Tralee Students Win Special Merit Awards In Texaco Art Competition

Mercy Mounthawk student Jolin Weng’s Special Merit Award winning entry.

TWO students from Tralee secondary schools were prizewinners in the 69th Texaco Children’s Art Competition announced this week.

Seventeen-year-old Clodagh McCluskey from Presentation Secondary School and 13-year-old Jolin Weng from Mercy Secondary School were Special Merit Winners.

Another Special Merit winner from Kerry was eight-year-old Roibeard Ó Lubhaing from Scoil Bhaile An Fhirtearaigh in West Kerry.

The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is popularly regarded as the longest-running sponsorship in the history of arts sponsoring in Ireland, with an unbroken history that dates back to the very first Competition held in 1955.
