THIS time last year, the then Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, announced that restrictions would be put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Ireland.

We all know what happened after that; thousands of deaths, a health system at breaking point, loneliness, social isolation, mental health challenges and businesses put under enormous financial strain.

Well, a year on, local musicians Noel McCord, John Buggy and Barry McGrath have decided to write a song inspired by the frontline workers, people in businesses and the young and old who have made such sacrifices over the past year.

“Covid 19 has completely changed the way we live , lockdowns all over the world , we have had to adapt to new normal in the way we interact with each other,” reads a description under the video of the song they have uploaded to YouTube.

“We are forever in debt to our frontline workers who are true heroes. With the new vaccines being rolled out we live in hope that we can again get back to some kind of normality to the way we used to live and have some humility going forward.

This song is dedicated to frontline staff all over the world , to the business owners that are waiting patiently to open, to people young and old that have sacrificed our freedom of movement to flatten the curve.”
