STAND OUT performances by young Kerins O’Rahillys players in the Senior County Championship have earned them a call up for Kerry sides.

After impressing for O’Rahillys and the Kerry U21s this year, Jack Savage has been called into the Kerry senior training panel as they prepare for an All-Ireland quarter final less than three weeks away.

There’s good news also for midfielder John C O’Connor, who will link up with the Kerry junior panel. John C qualifies for the recently crowned Munster champions because in 2015 he did not play any senior championship football with his club.

Both players excelled in Strand Road’s three point win over Legion at the weekend. However the price of success means O’Rahillys could be without both players for the next few County League matches due to inter-county commitments.

Eamonn Fitzmaurice has given Savage the nod on the back of scoring a combined 0-16 over three games in the county championship. Savage also impressed with the Kerry U21s this year who were very unlucky to lose out to eventual All-Ireland finalists Cork.

John C O’Connor has been a revelation at centre-field this year, where he has often dominated more seasoned campaigners around the middle.

The call-ups give weight to O’Rahillys championship credentials as the competition takes a backseat and the focus turns to inter-county action.
