Seniors:

Trailing by 6 points at the break, 1-07 to 0-04, we attacked from the start of the second half and notched 1-02 without reply to leave the minimum between the sides after just 5 mins, Tommy Walsh with both points and wing back Darragh McElligott firing to the net following good work from Karl Mullins. This was as good as it was to  get however, for in a devastating 10 minute spell Dr Crokes put this game to bed when knocking over 6 unanswered points which effectively decided the contest.

The first half was competitive, with both sides defending well leaving little space for either set of attackers – the scores were level on two points each after 10 minutes and further  points from Billy Courtney and Tony Brosnan pushed Crokes two in the lead however Tommy Walsh fired over from distance to cut the deficit to the minimum – it was still a two point game ( 0-6 to 0-04) after 20 mins before  Brian Looney found Tony Brosnan in space and he fed the inrushing Billy Courtney for a Crokes goal, a score which Gary Kissane could do little about – a further point from the boot of Tony Brosnan from a free left the home side in the lead by 6 at the break.

We needed a good start to the second half and got it when scoring 1-02 without reply to give us hope; however, Dr Crokes upped the tempo with good work around the middle from Johnny Buckley ably assisted by Tony Brosnan, Brian Looney and Gavin O’Shea which resulted in the home side finding their range and rattling off the scores, 6 points in total without a response – hard as though Tommy Walsh tried in the middle of the pitch, he was often left ploughing a lone furrow and Dr Crokes ran out convincing winners, 1-17 to 1-08 to claim the points.

We are at home in round 7 to Rathmore in Strand Road on Sat night 16th where throw in is @ 19.30

Team: Gary Kissane, Danny O’Sullivan, Shane Brosnan, Cormac Coffey, Ryan Carroll, Ross O’Callaghan, Darragh McElligott (1-0), Con Barrett, John C O’Connor, Karl Mullins, Tommy Walsh ( 0-06, 4fs), Cian Sayers, Gearóid Savage ( 0-02), John Ferguson.

Subs used: Padraig Griffin & Shane McElligott.

Division 5 Group A:

Kerins O’Rahillys 7-06

Knocknagoshel 2-09

We made the trip north to Knocknagoshel worthwhile on Sunday when accounting for the locals in division 5; a great start which saw us find the net on 4 occasions was the foundation for this victory and despite a comeback from the home side in the 2nd half we tacked on a further 3 goals to record a fine win.

Team: Killlian Moran, Gary Nolan, Tom McGrath, Kieran Mangan, Rory O’Connor (1-0), Jason O’Leary, Seán Collins, John C O’Connor, Darragh McElligott (0-01), Donagh O’Brien (1-0), Rory Molloy (0-01), Gearóid Hartnett, Aidan Mangan (0-01), Johnny Keane (1-01), Padraig Griffin (4-0).

Sub: John McGrath ( 0-02)

We next play Austin Stacks on Sunday 17th June in Strand Road @ 14.oo

Charlie Kerins:

Our fixture scheduled for last Friday night 8th vs Tarbert was conceded by Tarbert who could not field a team.

Minor County Championship:

We will play Feale Rangers in the county minor championship on Friday night 22nd June in Mountcoal where throw in is @ 19.00

Kerry U-20:
We would like to wish Alan O’Sullivan all the best as Kerry embark on their journey in the inaugural Munster U-20 championship when they take on Limerick on Friday night next 15th in Newcastlewest @ 19.30 Given that we have won the last 4 All Ireland minor titles, there are great expectations around this squad but the loss of marquee players Seán O’Shea and David Clifford to the senior squad will seriously mitigate against this group as the championship unfolds.

Junior Blues:

It was yet another successful morning in Ballyrickard with a big crowd of children and parents gathered, with the action kicking off at 11.00

Thanks to all the parents who generously donated some baking, as the teas and coffees went down well.

Thanks to all the coaches who continue to bring out the best in all the children, all the time encouraging, supporting and helping them to improve their skills.

Ladies:

U12 Girls
Our U12 girls got back on their winning trail last Tuesday evening at our Ballyrickard pitch with a win  over a very competitive Abbeydorney side. Abbeydorney got off to a good  start putting 2 points on the board. We then responded with a pt. by Aoibhín MacCarthy.
Abbeydorney responded with a long ball in which ended in the net. Kelly Fitzgerald made a solo run and kicked a great goal to the roof of the net to leave the score 2-1 to 1-2. We now lead and held that lead throughout the game. We added another pt. from Kelly before half time.
Into the second half we lead by 3 pts. Nathali Mulumba picked up a breaking ball , made her way through the defence and scored a pt.
Abbeydorney responded with a goal reducing the lead to a single pt. Aoibhín MacCarthy won a ball, created space to get a shot at goals which finished in the net. Soon after Aoibhín added another pt.
Abbeydorney added 2 reducing the lead to 3 pts. In the final few minutes play went from end to end with the fear of a late goal from Abbeydorney always a possibility , however Sophie Hassett kicked our final pt. to put us 4 pts. up.
Final Score
Kerins O’Rahillys 3-5
Abbeydorney 2-4
We wish a speedy recovery to the Abbeydorney player who fractured her arm during the game.
