Academy

We cannot be prouder of our very youngest players in Ballymac. The 2023 U5’s team may be the liveliest bunch we’ve had in years, but they’ve come on leaps and bounds in the space of a few months. The future of Ballymac looks very bright!

Medal Presentation

Our final academy session for 2023 took place this morning, Sunday, in glorious sunshine. With close on a full attendance the place was a hive of activity as all the girls and boys practised their skills for the final time this year out on the pitch.

Practise at home over the winter months will make sure they hit the ground running again next March when the academy returns.

Congratulations to all the girls and boys graduating from the academy who received their plaques for their time and efforts throughout the year and to all the younger age groups who received their medals.

A goodie bag plus a voucher for the ice cream van on site for the morning was also well received by all.

A huge thanks to all the coaches for their time and commitment to their age groups over the last seven months.

Also to all the parents who support their children on the beginning of their football journey with the club, thank you.

We also wish to thank Roisin Rahilly and Niall Collins for giving their time to present all the next generation with their medals. Great role models for all the girls and boys.

Thanks also to our academy sponsors The Half Way Shop, your support is much appreciated.

Thanks to all the club officers who make the academy happen each year and make it the success that it is.

Finally all at the Coiste na nÓg part of the club wish our senior mens team the very best of luck on Sunday next in the Premier Junior Final against Listowel Emmets.

Health and Wellbeing

Healthy Club notes

GAA Generations initiative is looking to engage young GAA and LGFA aged 12- 21 years of age to record on their mobile phone a conversation with ‘One Good Adult’; someone who they look up to and admire in the 55+ age bracket. It could be, for example, a parent/grandparent, a coach, or a teacher, past or present, that saw and nurtured your potential.

Older participants will also be given the opportunity to quiz their young interviewees on their GAA experiences and how it may have impacted their understanding of who they are.

100 lucky participants will be invited to a special event in the Autumn with Cillian Murphy, Actor and Patron of the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre in University of Galway. If any coach / parent, can think of a youth in this age bracket who would be interested in engaging- please contact Christina as soon as possible – 0871811249.
