The versatile player signed from Waterford FC ahead of the 2023 SSE Airtricity First Division season which kicks off a week from today.

He also made his debut for the Waterford FC senior side in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division at just 18 years of age. Graham was part of the Kerry FC Under 19 squad last year as an overage.

Speaking on his signing for the Kerry FC senior squad, Graham O’Reilly said; “This is a huge opportunity for myself to progress my football with a great club and I’m looking forward to seeing how the season goes and so is all the team. Everyone in Kerry FC and the people of Kerry have been very welcoming to me from moving down from Wexford and I greatly appreciate that.”

First Team Manager Billy Dennehy said; “Graham is a player that came into us last year from Waterford FC. He is currently studying at the MTU in Tralee and showed an interest in coming to the club and playing for Kerry FC.

“He got an injury last season with the under 19s which ruled him out for a lot of the year. But he has shown a great appetite in pre-season to come in and show how much he wants to play at this level and how much he wants to improve.

“From my point of view, it’s great to have players like Graham that are involved with the club from other areas and to be proud to be representing Kerry FC as well as looking to improve as a young player. Delighted to have him involved, he’s a versatile player who can play in a few positions for us so I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops throughout the season.”

Yard Duets visited Our Lady of Fatima, Tralee; Castleisland Day Care, Coill na Darach, Killarney; Our Lady of Lourdes, Kilcummin; Ard Chúram, Listowel; Aperee Living, Tralee; Kenmare Nursing Home; Taobh Linn, Kenmare; Áras Mhuire, Listowel and Aperee Ocean View, Camp.

Yard Duets was devised and performed by dance duos Kristyn Fontanella and Laura Lundy, and Rachel Sheil and Sarah Fennell.

Each performance came with bags of energy and plenty of pzazz and was a colourful affair of joyful dances and characterful routines set to a medley of classic music.

“It’s really important that everyone have an opportunity to experience live performance by dance artists,” says Catherine Young. “This show brings great joy and fun with it.”

“We were delighted to have Yard Duets with us under the dancer in residence programme – this was a great opportunity for older people to access free dance performance in a relaxed and fun-filled way,” says Kate Kennelly, Arts Officer with Kerry County Council.

Hannafin Looks Forward To New Season With Kerry FC

.
Jonathan Hannafin has signed for Kerry FC.

KERRY FC has announced the signing of left-back Jonathan Hannafin ahead of the 2023 SSE Airtricity First Division season.

The 28-year-old Kerry man carries a wealth of football experience into the first-team squad. Jonathan played Under 19 League of Ireland with Cork City from 2012 to 2013 winning the league and cup double in his time with the Rebel Army.

A move to local League of Ireland side Tralee Dynamos was on the cards in 2013 playing under 19 and under 20 before graduating to the senior side and playing in the ‘A Championship’.

From Dynamos, Hannafin went on to play in the Munster Senior League with Fairview Rangers (2015-2017), Pike Rovers (2017-2019), where he played in the FAI Junior Cup Final and most recently with Mervue United (2019-2022).

Speaking on his signing for Kerry FC, Jonathan Hannafin said; “I’m delighted to sign for Kerry FC and be a part of something very special. To sign for Kerry FC, I feel like I’m representing my own as a proud Kerry man.

“There’s a huge togetherness within the club both on and off the field. It can be seen every day at training and within the clubhouse. I am just looking forward to wearing the Kerry FC jersey with pride.”

First Team Manager Billy Dennehy said; “Jonathan is another Kerry player who travelled far and wide to try and play at the highest level possible that he could. If this platform had been here for him many years ago it probably would have helped his development he could have made as a younger player.

“But he, like many others, now that the platform is here, has come back in pre-season and is still coming back from a bad injury he had. But he has trained well so far and it will be interesting to see how he progresses as the season gets underway and gets fitter and athletically back to where he was before the injury. He is another great addition to the squad and we are delighted to have him on board.”

THE Kingdom of Kerry Greenways is encouraging loved-up couples to get out and  cycle, walk or run along the two greenways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The Kingdom of Kerry Greenways currently consists of the Tralee-Fenit greenway and the Listowel-Abbeyfeale greenway, with the South Kerry Greenway to follow in due course.

The famous Flemings, Tadhg and Derry, were out and about on the greenway this week to promote the facilities, which are already proving hugely popular with locals and tourists alike.

“We are delighted to see local communities within Kerry and visitors to the county share the love this season by supporting the Kingdom of Kerry Greenways following their launch last year,” said Niamh O’Sullivan, Kerry County Council.

“The Greenways are a fantastic asset to the Tralee, Fenit and Listowel communities and to Kerry’s thriving tourism industry in general. We look forward to seeing the Greenways become landmark attractions all year round.”

The Council is hoping people get out and spend quality time with the great outdoors this Valentine’s Day, by organising a double date to explore both Greenways over the weekend.
