SO it’s over again for another year, but for some it could lead to a change of lifestyle and a healthier body and mind for 2020.
The ’31 Day January Challenge for Positive Mental Health’, organised by Colin ‘Poshey’ Aherne, came to an end on Friday with a final 5k walk from The Rose Hotel out to the canal and back.
The challenge asked that people commit to half an hour activity a day, whether it be walking, running, cycling, yoga, fitness etc. every day for the month of January and donate to the gofundme page.

Well hundreds of people all over the county, country and beyond took up the challenge and eventually raised around €13,000, which was divided between Down Syndrome Kerry (€4,500), Action For Amber (€3,500), Chloe’s Journey (€3,500) and Bumbleance (€1,000).
“It’s the most successful we’ve run so far,” said Poshey. “We’ve had the most money raised and the most people taking part too. We’ve had about 400 to 500 worldwide getting involved and I’ve even sent out medals to Scotland and New Zealand,” added Poshey, who thanked everyone for their donations and assistance in organising the challenge
Cheque presentations were made to the charities on the night and medals and certificates were also presented to the participants who turned up for the final walk. Well done to Poshey and everyone who took part. Scroll down for photos…
