TRALEE Musical Society held an open night on Tuesday to help entice former members to dip their toes back into theatrics for the group’s 30th anniversary show.

“What we’re trying to do is get in touch with people who have gone through the society over the years,” said Des Hurley of Tralee Musical Society at the Kerins O’Rahillys GAA clubhouse. “We want them to come back and share with us what they done in the shows and do a show in collaboration with them.”

The group are about embark on two shows this year. The first being an all kids production of ‘Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ next month and a ‘Best Of’ or ‘Salute to the Musicals’ show which will celebrate 30 years of the Tralee Musical Society.

Des Hurley has been involved for 21 years, his brother Oliver has the edge on him as he has been involved for all of the 30 years moving from performer to director in the process.

At this moment, the Society has around 60 members, but it is thought there could be up to a hundred former members still in town.

“Some people might think that when they retire they would never go back on stage again, but this is a great opportunity for them to see what they are missing and get back on stage again,” said Des. Check out their Facebook page here
