THE annual call for applications to Kerry County Council for arts grants and bursaries is currently underway.
The application process is managed by The Arts Office of Kerry County Council and co-ordinated by Arts Officer, Kate Kennelly.
“We welcome applications across all our funding streams and see the awarding of grant-aid as an essential part of our arts programme”, Kate states.
Grant awards are available under the following categories: Arts Act Grants; The Eamon Kelly Bursary for Creative Practitioners; Artist in Schools Bursary; Creative Work Development Bursary; Materials & Equipment Bursary; Further Arts Education Bursary; Bursary to attend an artist’s retreat in Ireland.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Wednesday 10th January 2018 at 1pm.
“The arts act grants and bursary awards assist the promotion of the arts in our communities and they also support our artists who are based in and have strong links to Kerry”, Mayor of Kerry and Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr John Sheahan reiterated.
In accordance with the core values of Kerry County Council’s Arts Strategy 2016 – 2021, priority will be given to festivals, events and activities that seek funding for the paid involvement of professional artists. The individual Artist Bursaries support the artistic work development of artists based in Kerry. There are five different Bursary categories:
• Artists’ Retreat
• Purchase of Materials and Equipment
• Creative Work Development
• Further Arts Education
• The Eamon Kelly Bursary for Creative Practitioners (Killarney Municipal District only)
The bursaries offer supports to artists across all artforms and are open to artists with significant track record in their chosen discipline.
The Artist in Schools Awards support schools who wish to give children and young people the opportunity to work with professional artists on a specific project that enhances the curriculum without replacing the work of the curriculum.
