A Chinese Cultural Festival Will Take Place In Tralee This Weekend

The Butterfly Girls Orchestra will perform in Siamsa Tire as part of the festival.

THE people of Tralee will  get the chance to sample a taste of the Chinese way of life this weekend as the Chinese Cultural Festival gets underway this Saturday July 25.

The festival will be officially launched by the Vice Governor of the Zhejiang Province on Saturday,  who will also be accompanied by the Chinese Ambassador to Ireland.

For those of you interested in sampling a little bit of the culture, there will be a free performance of traditional Chinese music, song and dance in Siamsa Tire at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon, by the traditional orchestra Butterfly Troupe.

The Cultural Festival will also see the Zhejiang Re-Design Exhibition at the Kerry County Museum which will showcase Chinese creative culture using a range of traditional materials. This exhibition will be opened at 3.30pm on Saturday, July 25 and which will run until July 29.

While all events are free of charge, pre-booking for the concert is essential.

It is  hoped that this festival will help to strengthen the ties between Kerry and the Zhejiang province which has a population of over 50 million people.
