Ballyheigue Girl Wins Acting Award At Georgian Film Festival

A PUPIL from a school in Ballyheigue has won an award for acting at a film festival in Georgia.

Andrea Lynch won the Best Female Actress in the Tbilisi International Children and Youth Film Festival “Oqros Pepela” (“Golden Butterfly”) in Georgia for her role the short film ‘A Little Help’ made by her schoolmates in St. Joseph’s N.S. Bouleenshere.

The film had already received a ‘Highly Commended Award’ in the Fresh Film Festival earlier this year and has been entered in a number of international film festivals.

Andrea’s award arrived to the school today and she and her classmates were delighted to receive it, considering that this is the first time such an award has been won by an Irish film at the festival.

The film ‘A Little Help’ tells the story of a doll who helps Andrea’s character to find real friends. and has the important message of being kind to each other .

The school  also got news this week that the film has qualified for the 36th edition of the International Film Festival ‘Up to 21’ in Poland and will be screened in the city of Warsaw at the end of September.  The film also made it to the final of the Charlie Chaplin Film Festival in Waterville last August.
