Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Championship: Quarter Final

Ballymacelligott: 3-15 Ballyduff 3-09
Ideal playing and weather conditions on Saturday evening in Ballymacelligott gave an expectation of a good football game. Nonetheless, the first half lacked lustre. The second half fulfilled the promise.
Twenty-six minutes into the second half Ballyduff scored their second point from Kevin Goulding. At this stage of the game, Ballymac had scored 0-8 points. Two points from frees opened the home sides scoring from Captain Vinnie Horan, who again scored from play following two points from Aidan Breen and Niall Collins. Next came two points from play from Donal Daly.
Tadhg Brick scored Ballymac’s last point of the half as a result of a clever theft of the ball by Josh O’Keeffe when Ballyduff had momentum heading for the Ballymac goal. Mikey Boyle started and ended the first half with a pointed free.
The Half time score: Ballymac 0-8 Ballyduff 0-3.
The second half came to life in the 7th minute when Ballyduff scored a goal and put the pressure on the home side.
In the opening minute Niall Collins, showing his instinct for being in the right place at the right time, scored a goal from a ball that was saved from an Aidan Breen shot. Kevin Goulding added a point from a free and Killian Boyle who was causing all sorts of trouble for the Ballymac defence added a point from play.
Aidan Breen had added two points from frees and a point from Vinnie Horan had the home side 1-11 up when Killian Boyle scored a point for Ballyduff followed by that goal from Anthony Kavanagh.
Aidan Breen scored a point from a free and a great goal pushing Ballymac into a lead of 2-12 to 1-06 with fifteen minutes left to play.
Kevin Goulding scored a point from a free followed immediately by a goal by Mikey Boyle. It was now 2-12 to 2-07. Aidan Breen scored a point as a result of a remarkable intervention by Michéal Reidy.
This was followed by a great goal from Niall Collins who got a sweet pass from Donal Daly. The score was 3-13 to 2-07.
In the 23 minute, Ballyduff were awarded a penalty and goalkeeper Kevin O’Connor made no mistake and hit the back of the net.
Ballyduff added another point from a free. Daire Keane marked that with a point and just before the final whistle Mikey Boyle scored a point for Ballyduff. Michéal Reidy scored the last point of the game leaving the final score:

Ballymacelligott 2-14 Clounmacon Moyvane 1-4
Monday 28th August: On what turned out to be a very wet night, Ballymac played some really good football for the second week in a row.
This allowed them to build up a good lead after the first quarter of the game, leading by 1-5 to 0-2. With the goal coming from a fantastic move down the field and finished excellently by Rachel Creedon.
The 2 points for Clounmacon/Moyvane coming from the boot of Kelly Enright, one from play and one from a free. The second quarter was fairly even with 5 point, but a number of wides for Ballymac and 1-1 for Clounmacon/Moyvane again both scores from No.9 Kelly Enright.
The goal coming from a penalty after a bit of scrappy play in the Ballymac penalty area. Leaving it 1-10 to 1-3 at halftime.
The second half began with a point from play from No.16 for Clounmacon Moyvane, but that was their final score of the half. Ballymac got a grip on the game with another goal from Rachel Creedon and some well taken points by Ella Quirke, Roisin Rahilly and Kate Collins.
With a number of substitutes now on the Ballymac defence continued to hold strong and resolute, as they had done all night. With light fading fast, the game ended with a second win on the bounce for Ballymac, but a far tougher test awaits them next week away, against free scoring top of table Abbeydorney.

Bons Secours Junior A Championship Round 3.
On a sunny Abbeydorney pitch this Sunday lunchtime, two of the three unbeaten sides met in a crunch tie at the top of the Round Robin. What transpired was an absolute outstanding performance from 1-15 in the Ballymac colours as they drove each other on in pursuit of victory, a comradeship of never say die and constant support of each other.
The game started well with a point from Lisa Curran, returning from a summer away, which was quickly replied to by Abbeydorney centre forward Melanie Higgins. Then the resulting kick out found Roisin Rahilly who in turn found captain Aishling O’Connell. Aisling went on a tremendous run straight through the heart of the Abbeydorney defence and goaled.
A lead that was never lost. With Rachel Creedon goaling from the next kickout, Ballymac led by 2-1 to 0-1. Abbeydorney replied with the next four points, before Ella Quirke replied from play, after great hand pass by the hardworking Sarah O’Rourke.
Abbeydorney replied with a goal, when the sun deceived keeper Kerry Hennessy, leaving it at level scores with 10 minutes to play in the second half. Then despite the searing heat, we dug deep with, with Ellie McElligott playing mighty stuff alongside Aishling in midfield, we knocked over two points from Roisin Rahilly and a lovely point off Emma Daly from wing back.
Abbeydorney attacked hard but were denied by outstanding defending by Anna Collins, Grainne Galvin, Jamie Lee O’Connor, Rachel Griffin and Ciara Kerins, leaving us 3 points up at halftime, 2-5 to 1-5.
The second half started with a pointed free for Abbeydorney again by Melanie Higgins and Roisin Rahilly replied after a great move that began in the Ballymac full back line. Kate Colins knocked over two frees, but an outstanding goal from play by Abbeydorney, leaving us just two points in front.
At this stage Abbeydorney were putting on their fresh legs and really coming at us. Next Kerry Hennessy made a tremendous save, followed by a flowing move up field which resulted in a goal from Ella Quirke. Abbeydorney responded with a goal, pressure was on, Jamie Lee took the resulting kick out and after a great run released Rachel Creedon for a well taken point.
With 37 minutes of the second half played, Abbeydorney came back with a point leaving two points between the sides, the resulting kick out became vital, Abbeydorney pushed 13 players up into the Ballymac 45, but Roisin Rahilly gathered the kickout and was then fouled, at which point the referee blew the final whistle of an enthralling encounter.
Best Wishes to Jamie Lee, who suffered an injury in the last play of the game, after another mighty game.

U17 Ladies
Our u17s continued a good week in Championship for the Club with a good win over Dr Crokes in the Quarter Final of the A Championship played in Ballymac on Thursday evening.
We dominated from the first whistle and goals from Katie Landers and Jill Quirke helped us build up a good half time lead.
A Rachel Griffin goal in the second half killed off any hope of a Crokes comeback.
Ballymac were best served by Orla O Connor in goals with Ashlinn Baily, Maura Culloty and Rose Brosnan excellent in defence while forwards Jill Quirke, Katie Landers and Rachel Creedon also impressed.
We now face an away semi-final v Desmonds on Thursday evening next.
U15 Ladies
Well done to the u15 girls who began their championship campaign tonight on a very hard-fought win. We played with the wind in the first half and we’re unlucky to go in at half time level Ballymac 1:06 Rathmore 2:03 but a strong second half performance saw us win Ballymacelligott 3:13. Central Region U13 Div 7 Final Ballymac Gold Team against Kerins O Rahilly’s is on this Wednesday evening 6th September at 6.45pm in St Pats
U9 boys
U9 boys played two very competitive games against St. Pats on Tues evening. All Ballymac players got equal playing time showcasing their passing and scoring skills. Thanks to St Pat’s for travelling and also thanks to Niall and Eoin for reffing.
Game next Sunday 10am (sept 10th) against Na Gaeil in Ballymac training pitch.
Under 8 and Under 10 girls
On Saturday Ballymac U8 & U10 girls hosted St. Pats, Kerins O’Rahillys, Milltown/Castlemaine & Firies. With approximately 125 future superstars giving there all a great morning was had by all.
A big thank you to all the parents who provided home baked treats, tea’s & coffees as well as volunteering their time on the day, Our U16 girls Roisin, Jamie Lee, Anna, Ella & Ciara who refereed all our games, all our coaches, Kerry LGFA for giving everyone the opportunity to take a picture with the U16 All Ireland trophy and our parking stewards Darragh Sweeney (Senior Men’s team) and Liam Sweeney.

There was lots of sun, fun and smiles this morning at academy where Coach Sarah morphed into an octopus, Coach Mick set up an obstacle course, and coach Ger got the under 5s hopping and shooting, huge thanks to all our coaches who bring such energy every Sunday morning
Ballymacelligott Healthy Club… let’s step out as a community this September and support the Wellness Walks on Ballygarry Estate, Hotel & Spa. Thanks to Ballygarry Estate for facilitating this wonderful opportunity to all Walkers of all ages as well as pets (on a lead). All will gather at the Pavilion Gardens each Sunday morning @11am. What a great way to meet new people and enjoy the beautiful surroundings on our doorstep. The walk will last 30 / 45 mins depending on your pace. This walk is free of charge. #fitness #fun #fresh air
Lotto
On Monday 28th August, Donal Rahilly and Pa White conducted the Lotto draw live from our Clubrooms. Sean Hennessy assisted on video. The draw preceded the Bons Secours County Championship, Junior A Rd 2 Game. Our Senior ladies were victorious against a gallant Clounmacon/Moyvane side on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-4.
