Under 10 girls welcoming seniors on to field

Senior Ladies

Bon Secours Junior A Championship Round 7

The final round robin game, a do or die battle. We needed a win or draw to secure a home semi-final; a loss would probably have us away from home. Laune Rangers needed a win to stay in the competition.

When the pressure comes on this group of ladies that is when they seem to always raise their game.

Today it was a fantastic defensive performance that set the tone. Only 6 points conceded (3 from play) was the rock from which this victory was built on. In the end the 3-8-to-6-point win doesn’t really show the good performance from a very game Laune Rangers team.

We got off to a great start with 1-3 without reply, with Roisin Rahilly converting a penalty after 4 mins, but Laune Rangers No.11 putting a penalty wide after twelve minutes.

Then we got hit with 2 points in a row from poor turnovers by us, Ella Quirke responded with a point from play. Laune Rangers had the final point of the first half, leaving the score 1-4 to 0-3 at half time

Under 10 Ballymac girls with Laune Rangers under 10 girls

During the halftime break we were treated to a great U10 football exhibition by our young ladies v Laune Rangers. Well done to our U10’s and coaches Kevin, Des and Tom.

The second half threw in, we dominated the ball a lot more, but costly turnovers were preventing us from moving away from them. Then a goal from Ella Quirke put 2-7 to 0-4 ahead and from there we coasted to a 3-8 to 0-6 victory, with the third goal from Kate Collins.

This will mean a home semi-final for the fourth year in a row, this time in the Junior A Championship. We will play Clounmacon Moyvane for the fifth time this season, they have 3 victories to our 1 so far, so next Sunday we will need our supporters out in strength to shout us on and wave their fantastic array of flags.

Squad today was Kerry Hennessy, Robyn White, Grainne Galvin, Niamh Rahilly, Anna Collins, Ciara Kerins, Una Morrissey, Emily O’Brien, Rachel Griffin, Emma Daly, Aisling O’Connell, Eve Creedon, Ellie McElligott, Roisin Rahilly, Keelin Enright, Rachel Creedon, Caoimhe Carroll, Kate O’Connor, Ella Quirke, Lisa Curran and Kate Collins.

Thanks to Sean Hennesey for the reports the last few weeks

Division 3 Town League Final Sun 24th Sept 2023

Our Gold team played familiar rivals Austin Stacks B in the Div 3 Town League Final. The throw in was put back an hour due to the heavy rainfall in the afternoon. Our boys played into a very strong wind in the first half and naturally found it hard to get the ball out of our own half.

Huge credit to the boys who battled hard and scored 1-2 from the few chances they had. Half Time score was 3-7 to 1-2.

As luck would have it, right at half time the wind completely stopped. Stacks tagged on two more goals early in the second half and ran their bench of 12 subs. In fairness to our boys, not one of them dropped their heads and fought for every ball and kept running till the end.

They were a credit to the Ballymac jersey and their families. With such great attitude better times lay ahead for them. Congrats to Austin Stacks on a sporting game

Academy

Our Academy enjoyed some sunshine this morning a nice change from the rain last week.

U8 & U7 girls joined up for academy and enjoyed a great morning in the sunshine.

Our U10’s travelled to Killorglin to play Laune Rangers at half time during our Senior Ladies clash the Killorglin side.

A great morning was had by all and thanks to Laune Rangers for their invitation and hospitality.
