Senior Men

The Lee Strand Tralee/St. Brendan’s District Championship Final 2023
Venue: Austin Stack Park,
Austin Stacks 2-17 Ballymacelligott 1-04.

Ballymac entered this game as Tralee/St Brendan’s District Champions from 2022. Austin Stacks left today as deserving winners for 2023—Stacks dominated from the beginning to the end of the game.

Great credit to the Tralee/St Brendan’s District Boards who have secured Austin Stack Park for this Lee Strand Championship Final for the past two years. The pitch was in great condition and to play in Austin Stack Park for a District Final is a great privilege.

Stacks nailed their colours to the mast straight away on Sunday and within seven minutes had scored four points to no score. A Ballymac point from an Aidan Breen free kick saw our team’s first score of the game.

Sixteen minutes into the half the score was 1-7 to 0-1 to Stacks. Things did not improve for Ballymac in the last quarter of the first half.  A point from Adam Sheehy left the Half Time score: 1-08 to 0-2.

Austin Stacks kept the pressure up in the second half and scored two points before Donal Daly scored a goal for Ballymac. With 15 minutes left, Stacks were 2-13 to 1-04 up.  The final score was: 2-17 to 1-04.

A disappointing day for the players and management who gave us so many thrilling days out in 2023. Overall it was a great season with a solid Division 1 County League performance and a draw in the Junior Championship final that saw us loose in extra time.

We saw some great games, some great performances and best of all saw so many new players joining the senior panel and performing very well all year.

We look forward to 2024! Ballymac Abú!
