THE schoolchildren in St Brendan’s NS Blennerville pulled out all the stops to raise funds for Kerry Hospice during the annual coffee morning fundraiser earlier this month.

Some of the classes baked cakes and all pupils brought in €2 each to buy the goodies. Later that afternoon the parents came in for coffee and cakes. The whole event was a massive success raising €1,105.

“We’re thrilled with it. The coffee morning is a big fundraiser for us and Maura Sullivan used to hold it in her house, but this year we approached the school and they were very helpful,” said Andrea O’Donoghue of Kerry Hospice.

Principal of the school, Terry O’Sullivan said the children really enjoyed helping out.

“We delighted to raise such a massive amount of money and it was great to get the community involved. Funds are so badly needed for the Kerry Hospice. Three classes actually baked so it was great hands-on involvement for them,” he said.
