BLENNERVILLE National School and the Run The Kingdom have joined forces to organise what they hope will be an annual road race.

‘The Blennerville National School 5k/10k Road Race’ will take place on Sunday June 28 and take off from Blennerville Windmill at 10am.

The 10k part of the race is part of a Run The Kingdom championship where there will be points given out for the fastest finishers.

The purpose of the race is to mark the closing of the old school and the opening of a new one which is currently under construction adjacent to the existing building.

Any funds raised from the race will be used to buy resources for the new school. Blennerville National School, are appealing to past pupils to participate in the race as a good way of catching up with old friends.

The official date that school children are expected to move into the new building is January 2016, but builders are optimistic that the move could be done before Christmas.

At the moment, builders are on the second floor and it is hoped that the roof will be on by the end of July.
