THERE are not many stretches of coastline more perfect in Ireland than Banna Strand and it requires a bit of love and care to help keep it that way.

Banna Coastcare, in conjunction with the national initiative Clean Coasts, are organising a Banna clean-up on Saturday, September 17 at 10am.

Clean Coasts engages communities in the protection of Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life.

The group organises hundreds of beach clean-ups annually mobilising thousands of volunteers nationally, removing considerable quantities of marine litter from our coastline.

Because of it’s popularity, size and accessibility Banna is one of the counties busiest beaches, this unfortunately extracts a destressing amount of waste that most be removed.

The programme is operated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce and is currently funded by the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government, Fáilte Ireland and Coca-Cola.
